The jilted bride filed suit against her ex. She maintained she gave up a high-paying job in Florida to move closer to Gibbs and that their break-up caused her to suffer financially as well as emotionally.
“He made a promise to me and I relied on that promise and gave up a lot of things because of that promise and I suffered significantly for it,” Shell told NBC’s “Today” show on Friday.
Gibbs testified that he paid $30,000 of Shell’s debt. When he learned she owed even more money, he decided to end things by leaving her a note in the bathroom, he said. Shell denies deceiving Gibbs about her debt.
Shell’s attorney, Lydia Sartain, said it appears that Gibbs never intended to marry her client. “We believe now that he never intended to follow through on the promise to marry,” Sartain told NBC’s Meredith Vieira on “Today.” Shell said she was thrilled that the jury sided with her. “I felt like justice was really done,” she said.
“People shouldn’t be allowed to do people that way,” she said.
So think again before you dump someone.
