What is the most important lessons you've learned in life?

I think I've learnt that mostly everything is pointless. Especially giving advice and giving my time to people who don't appreciate it.

One day this very rude person who didn't take much pride in his appearance was being a frothing in the mouth lunatic being really loud and abrasive to my friend and she stayed very calm and handled herself with great poise. After he left, I asked her how she was able to maintain her cool and she said that I kept thinking that I can get away from him but he can't get away from himself and his life is his punishment. Ever since then when I see frothing in the mouth lunatics whose head is about to explode just because you chose to live your life differently and I just look at their lives and smile.
