Most people have very straightforward messages on their answering machine, but some people have funny ones or weird ones. What about you? And is it in English or Urdu (or Punjabi, Pashto, etc)? I need to change mine, so I am looking for ideas. Probably nothing too “out there”, because this is the phone prospective employers might call (I hope!), but something more distinctive than “Please leave a message at the tone…BEEP.”

Back in the day when we were kids, my sisters and I had this recording "Please leave a message after a series of screams", followed by screams that went from low pitch to high.
We thought it was pretty funny, don't know what our callers thought.

I can think of few good ones. :-)
1- "You are talking to a machine. If you feel like talk back"
2- "Obviously I am not interested in answering you or not available. You know what to do"
3- "I can only answer you back if you say something after the beep. I mean after the beep!"
4- " You know what to do"
5- "God is busy, leave your number and wait for an answer"
"Aapkay matlooba number se filhaal jawab nahin aaraha baraye-mehrbaani kuch deir baad phone kijiye, shukria"
"My machine is broken. Sod off."

a friend had this really annoying message :
“speak after the beep ..BEEEEP …” … person starts speaking while its silent .. and machine goes " sunayi nai dia .. ab fir sai bolo "

Mine is standard.
I had a friend who had a message which said, "This is NOT an answering machine. This is a questioning machine. Who are you? With whom do you wish to speak? What do you want to say? " ;)
Another one had her daughters singing (in three part harmony no less) that song from the Wizard of Oz: "You're out of the woods, you're out of the dark, you're out of the night, Step into the sun, step into the light..." :)
