ugh, sorry, horrible names in my opinion... is it me or are desi names getting more and more like the african american names like shaniqua and tyrone? Whatever happened to the classic names like Shaheryar and Daanyaal or Zara and Maleeha. These new names people are coming up with are... cheap, again in my opinion.

People nowadays just pick up any tidbit from an ayat and use it as a name. One that I can remember is Irrah from bismilla ir rahman...

its 'hir rahman' which literally means 'most' i would think. :-D

The actual phrase is Bismillah al-Rahman al-raheem. AL means THE. So God is THE most merciful and THE most gracious. In Arabic, the AL is silent in this instance and it's pronounced bismillahirrahman. So yeah, irrah or hirrah doesn't mean anything.
Also, I find it comical that people would just pick random names from the Quran to name their kids. I can't wait till someone names their kid Iblees.
