what is the difference between....
A wedding shower is more of a western concept..it's a celebration planned for the bride by a friend or close female relative where the bride is "showered" with gifts..usually lingerie
Mayoon/Mayun is usually the kick off to wedding festivities. In the olden days, the bride entered into beauty preps/rituals like using haldi/ubtan to polish and brighten her skin, some brides have their Mehndi applied on this day, some families keep the bride is a state of seclusion from the mayun leading up to the wedding to protect her from "evil eye"
Mehndi follows the mayoon and precedes the actual wedding day. On this day, the grooms family brings the bride trays of henna, her bridal ensemble, and other gifts of clothes and jewelry. Various rasms are preformed. Songs and dances. It's usually the most festive of all the wedding days.
Every family has their own take on these wedding customs and there are also are variances according to sub cultures, but that's the general idea
