Re: What is the difference between
check google definitions. they all pretty much seem to be the same thing. pastrami sounds yummy though i've seen the al-safa brand, but i'm afraid to try it! here i've pasted it for you below:
bologna: a large, highly seasoned sausage made from pork, beef and veal; named for Bologna, Italy, although the Italian sausage associated with that city is mortadella, available cooked and usually served cold; also known as baloney.
salami: the name applied to a family of sausages similar to cervelats. Both styles are uncooked but safe to eat without heating because they`ve been preserved by curing. Salamis, however, tend to be more boldly seasoned (particularly with garlic), coarser, drier and, unlike cervelats, rarely smoked. Salamis are usually air-dried and vary in size, shape, seasoning and curing process.
pastrami: a highly seasoned beef made from a cut of plate, brisket or round. After the fat is trimmed, the meat`s surface is rubbed with salt and a seasoning paste that can include garlic, ground peppercorns, cinnamon, red pepper, cloves, allspice and coriander seeds. The meat is dry-cured, smoked and cooked. Pastrami can be served hot or cold, usually as a sandwich on rye bread.

Thanks ruiner. pastrami does sound good. wonder if anyone has tried the al-safa ones though.
Re: What is the difference between
Their pretty decent, if you like cold cuts, but I will say that for some reason every Halal Salami/bologna I have had, has always been saltier than the amreekan kind. Yes I admit to have eaten haram before, but I have repented :)
Re: What is the difference between
Thanks andromeda. too much salt hmmm. I wanted to try making stromboli but i may as well go wit hturkey or chicken breast instead.
Re: What is the difference between
As someone who has eaten the real deal (I'm a convert) I have to say that they are not acceptable subsitutes. They are too salty and not seasaoned correctly.
If you have a Turkish grocery nearby you should be able to get a different brand. I have eaten some turkish cold cuts that are fantastic!
Re: What is the difference between
will look for one. thanks much amana. I have seen turkish brand big fat sausages in this afghan grocery store too, im guessing they should be good too.
