My definition of LOTA is that a person who joins the party in power after winning a seat on another partys ticket.
Our quaid-e-azam jinnah used to be in congress party for many years before joining all india muslim league.Does he also fall under the category of a LOTA.

not at all
late qaid- e- azam was one of the greatest leaders of subcontinent , he should be remembered with honour ! he had idoelogical differences with congress not any personal grudge or lust for any kursi . i remember him as a great secular and humanist leader whatever had been his differences with gandhi nehru.

technically, if a representative RESIGNS his seat from the Legislative assembly or the parliament and if he joins another party, he is NOT considered a lotaa...just like Shah Mahmood Quraishi did...he resigned from his seat in the assembly so if he joins another party, he'll nOT be called ba 'LOTA' :)

I second that.Not everyone who leaves his party is a LOTA.There can be many reasons for leaving a party.

If someone who is elected at another parties ticket and then joins PTI in the assembly without first resigning his seat, I would call him a LOTA!
With this definition any forward block MPA in PA, who is elected at PML-Q ticket but supports PML-N against his party policy, is a LOTA.
SHQ on the other hand, regardless of which party he joins, is not a LOTA!

Firdous Aashique Awan, she was Member of NA and Minister/Parliamentary secretary kind of thing NA on Q-League's ticket andshe defended each and everything the govt and president mushy did back then.... later when wind was against PML-Q she joined PPP and contested election against PML-Q's candidate, (if i am right then the name of candidate Ch. Amir Hussain, the Speaker of Punjab Assembly, need to verify this i am not sure), means she contested against the very govt she was part of and defended for years... now can she be called LOTA?
Second case, Malik Zaheer Khokhar, Contested and won on PPP's ticket from Lahore, then changed his loyalties in the Assembly and voted for Q-League's nominated member for Premiership, later he contested elections of 2008 on PML-Q's ticket and lost.. later when PML-Q was on verge of collapse and PPP was not ready to take him back and there was no chance that PML-N would consider him, he joined and contested elections from PTI's plateform, Can he by any chance be called LOTA?
There are many more scenarios, but lets discuss these two first!
