And how about to leave a child in charge of looking after younger siblings?
Do the rules change depending on the gender of the child and time of day you’ve gone out?

in Canada, it’s 12 years…legally!
you can NOT leave a child alone…if something happens then you will be held responsible…
practically, it depends on how mature the child is…i would say somewhere around age 7

legally it’s 11 I believe.
but that’s too young IMO. Kids under 13 alone at home makes me nervous.

It depends on how mateur the child is, some 12 year olds can be childish wheras some 9 year olds are more responsibile, with my children i didn’t leave them until they were about 13 only if needs be and i am not too far.

I would not leave my kids alone at home till they are 14 and even then only in day time maybe, and not more than 2 hours max. I am a very paranoid father.

My parents used to leave me in charge when I was 9/10. I don’t think they would have done that with any of my younger siblings. As people have said, it depends on the child.

Just felt like posting again after a loooooooong time.
Got back from 3 weeks of holidays in Pk last weekend, so I’m still trying to adjust to the routine of going to work again.
