Re: What is the aim of circumcision of men in Islam?
Islam firstly is to distinguish between Muslim man and others; this is an important sign to know someone’s religion after his death. If he is circumcised, then he is a Muslim so Muslims carry out washing him, shrouding him, perform prayers upon him and burying him in Muslims’ graves. Circumcision preserves his rights as a Muslim after his death; this happens mostly during accidents and wars so they know the religion by circumcision.
Can’t disagree with you on this more. I agree that circumcision is sunnat, but the above mentioned reasoning is illogical.
First, male circumcision is not restricted to islam. Jew males also practice it. So in a war between Jews and Muslims, how will you differentiate a Muslim corpse from a Jew corpse, whenn both would be circumcised?
Second, an adult converted male Muslim is not obligated to circumcision, unless he can do it himself or have his wife do it on him. Keeping your privates covered is fard, while circumcision is sunnah. To follow sunnah, a male adult cannot violate fard. What will you do with the dead body of a Muslim who converted, but never had circumcision done? How will you identify him?
Thirdly, what if you find bunch of females dead bodies? Is there a way to identify a dead female Muslim from a dead female Christian?
I can go on and on, but I think that above should be sufficient.
Even more fundamental than that … Can you imagine Muslims going around taking a peek of the private parts of corpses? … That is such a ridiculous copy paste … Hasanelgouz does it again.
