I like people who earn their respect, not expect or demand it.

But then, there are some situations where the respect is “earned” by the person being older than me. :hmmm:

But for the most part, treating others how you’d want to be treated works well, for me. Give others respect, and they shouldn’t have an issue respecting you back.

I think respect can be given/gained either by our actions or by words. Action like OP said standing up, moving head lil down, moving eyes in a direction, giving way, moving lil bit behind, by giving a smile, by face impressins and by saying good positive words.

and I think staying quite even when others are wrong doesn’t fall under ‘respect’ category perhaps I would call this situation as ‘morality’.

In physic “every action has a reaction” so by keeping this theory in our mind our every actions which mentioned in first phrase cause same reaction some effect instantly but some others take short or long time.

Lastly, if our action and wording is good then we’ll generating positive reaction but if it bad then no doubt we’ll create negative reaction so if we would like to gain more respect then Yeah we must take first step to generate positive reaction. Merely expecting respect from others keep us all in neutral position.

i disagree .. i think if you are giving someone respect becuase he respects you thats not respect .you are just treating the other person the way he treating you. i think if you respect someone when other person is not doing the same thats when you get him to think about you .:slight_smile:

It should be more in heart than in act, and when u have it in ur heart it appears all by itself in ur words and act ;).

It should be given to everyone regardless of being young or old. No one likes rudeness even kids follow instructions happily when u tell them with love and little respect

**hmm i am okay with that too, like in situation when one person is bit hyper, that time they dont wish to hear lectures, its ok to stay quite till they cool down and then tell them they were wrong. At times when our elders are wrong and are in front of other people, its not right to just jump up on them saying they are wrong, the right thing is to take them separately at some side corner and talk with them in a low tone, tell them they were wrong, that why they dont get embarrassed and understand much better

Paki rana, I didn’t said that if other first treat us good then I’ll treat them same as. I said we at starting first treate others in positive manner so that we in return also be treated well.

Exmaple: in a movie hero always runs behind heroin and that heroin, at first didn’t give any face but eventually she starts love hero. Hero wants to be loved by heroin and try to do some positive actions (either physical or by wording) to generate positive reaction in heroin. So either in first attempt or in many, hero successed to generate positive reaction in heroin and the cause which created between them is called ‘love’ and of’coz that grows if both respect each others.

First we should try to understand our potentinal level if we wants to be respected by others. :slight_smile:

Depends on the situation. If I can show respect by staying quiet and letting the other person think they’re right, then I will.
But if I’m being really disrespected, eventually, I’ll speak up.
