Re: What is Pakistani Custom ..kissing when you meet
hahahahaah that'd be a pretty funny prank.
No its not a custom, some families are pretty liberal and do that, but majority are not. Women greet each other like that but not women and men.

I am serious , I asked this question to know the answer not to make jokes , all of us are muslim but culture is different , here even hand shaking with women is not prefere and also not allawed in Share'a
Re: What is Pakistani Custom ..kissing when you meet
women do kiss only women
men do not kiss either women or other men :)
but recently I have watched one male celebrity kissing female celebrity in a tv show ---- wondering the day is not far away when it can be happened in majority of our homes too, becoz of various factors....
May Allah protect us from the worst times!

In my family, opposite sex cousins may embrace heads, if they are meeting after more than six months or a year. This is not a kiss. The cheek touches the cheek. Uncles and aunts may also give a kiss on the forehead.
Those cousins who meet each other on a regular basis (more than once a month) usually just wave at each other. An uncle or aunt may touch the face of the nephew or niece, without actually embracing, in this case.
In the last election, candidates who favor Sharia got 4% of the vote. This should give you some indication of the power of Sharia in Pakistan.
Re: What is Pakistani Custom ..kissing when you meet
Its not a custom but some people are adopting it. One of my old school mate girl was caught off guard. Bunch of us got back in touch with each other through face book and one guy in Karachi (mind it I am not a young guy, so we are talking about my class mates who have kids in their teens) invited couple of old class fellows and invited this lady also.
When she arrived at his home, he was standing outside with another old class fellow. This poor woman was, on the worst side, expecting a hand shake, This guy stepped forward, shook her hand and put his cheek against her cheek and did his pooch pooch. ANd then the second guy did the same thing. This female was with her daughter who refused to come out of the car as she did not want to have this done to her. The other woman (another class fellow) who was with them learned the lesson pretty quick and stiffened her neck while shaking hands with those guys and did not offer her cheek to them:D
When she was telling me that story over the phone, I laughed so hard .. she started cursing me for not sympathizing with her and laughing about it. However, I understand, it must be an awkward situation for her.
