I recently made a thread and got a very intresting reply from one of our members which got me thinking what is a modren pakistan consisits of in your opinion the one that person gave me was not what i think of modren pak…
In my opinion modren pak consist of
Equality for all shia and sunni
more power in the hands of women
industries,education for all, less showing off anyways i can go on and on let me know what you think…

basically a more mature and grown up pakistan, a more disciplined, organized, civilized, accepting, confident nation.
the bacchpanay kay din and the crazy adolescence approach of the nation needs to end.

basically more educated.. once the nation is educated, everything else follows..like discipline, being more mature, having the right types of laws, women rights, equality, respecting other religion etc.

The first thing i think of is education. Also an open minded and liberal person that is big on manners and etiquette.

Modern Pakistan means a pie which every Pakistani can have a fair share to eat. There is equal level playing field, justice is common, education is free atleast till matric, poor people can run in elections not only jagirdars, Khans and industrialist, Banks which give macro economics loan rather then giving billions of rupees to politicians sitting in power corridors, end of VVIP culture and last but not least, liberal politicians who can throw all this maulvi, maulanas and maulana wannabess in the Arabian sea. :)

I do not believe in the word "modern" or "modernity". It sounds rather negative to me. There can be a better Pakistan though, with Rule of law and equal rights. If law is active and governing, all the other ailments can be cured.

it depends on one's perceptions. In Pakistan modern seems to mean against religious and social values, which is rather ridiculous. when we say modern medicine or modern furnishings does that sound negative.

Its not that I find modernity against religion. But I do am a hardliner when modernity means to bring a change into the things such as our culture, our language and ways of life be affected and changed and we term them be modern, a byproduct of always following the western trends. Yes it does sound negative that way, to me. In any way, I cant relate the term "modern Pakistan" with modern furnishing and medicine. To me it sounds like something which has been experimented upon to make it enlightened moderated Pakistan= Adha teetar aadha batair.
Where people don't go bat**** insane over issues, and come out in droves just to cause mayhem.

Modernity doesn't necessarily mean to bring a cultural change, for me it is just a term for betterment.
I would say education, first and foremost, should be made more accessible to common middle class people, which is a hard task in a country that's under Pakistani circumstances right now. Economics- something like Roosevelt's New Deal Program is highly needed, followed by educational opportunities, and then the changing the "cultural" thought process of Pakistanis (in Pakistan and abroad) to downplay and degrade almost everything that is Pakistani.
Of course, with the econimical betterment, you'll have industrilization as well creating better job market, and thus, encouraging people to stay in Pakistan and those outside to return to their country.
Modern Pakistan to me is a united and tolerant country, where people live and let other live. Crudeness and tribalism should get replaced by Civility and Tolerance. A country where people do not judge each other on basis of family background, cast, sex, sect, religion, language, provincialism, look, wealth, influence, connections, party affiliations, etc, but on equality and merit. A country where people are judged on basis of what they are and not who they are. A country where work pays and crime get punished irrespectively, where a child does not get undue advantage because Dad/Mum was Judge or Prime Minister, or disadvantage because of background. A country where people do not think themselves as Punjabi, Sindhi, Pathan, Muhajir, Baloch, Saraki, Hindko etc, but Pakistani and equal to each other in all respect.

We living outside think that modernity in Pakistan means whatever ppls said above.
But reality is different modern Pakistan is like bay hayai and burai they are learning from Indian Cables as each ghareeb and ghareebtareen ghar has.
Khanay ko paisay naheen hai per 300 monthly pay cable lagaya huwa hai.
Koi bhi Pakistan ka thaikedar (siyasatdan) wo sub kuch naheen karay ga jo upper khuwaab main sub daikh rahay hain.
