Mayoun is a pre-wedding party held before the mehndi, usually a couple of weeks before the mehndi. The purpose of this occasion was that the bride was to stop doing any housework and start beautifying herself for the wedding. Her beauty routine would consist of oil to the hair and ubtan to the face to brighten the complexion, along with other natural homemade beauty treatments. The actual party was ladies only, and they would sing, beat the dholki, dance, put ubtan on the girl, etc. The girl would wear a yellow or mustard colored outfit for the occasion. Nowadays, people will decorate their party hall or their home with yellow decorations and flowers, and even the guests will all wear yellow to complete the theme. It's basically a fancy dholki party with a few rasms.
