I’ve got a grasp on most of the fundamentals of Islam but what is a Jinn? Does Jinn go to heaven and hell too? Can we see Jinn? Can Jinn see us? If you could broaden my understanding on this I would truly appreciate it.
Re: What is Jinn
Jinns are creations of ALlah just like Humans are. Humans are created our of Clay, Angels from light and Jins from Fire. \

Re: What is Jinn

Just an FYI, he is talking about jin and not gin
Re: What is Jinn
Word jinn is from root JEEM, NOON and NOON. Word INS is from root ALIF, NOON and SEEN. Humans in the quran are categorised into jinns and ins. People who stay aloof from rest and people who stick together.
Jinns are people who try to take control of humanity or masses to use and abuse them for their own ends. People try to enslave others through strength of arms or through ensnaring them or enticing them with stupid tricky ideas or concepts or that they use money to entrap them. This is why imperialism, priesthood and money based power structure is taken as harmful and destructive and that is why islam is all about khilaafah concept, which means basing human society on the quran as its constitution. In other words there are person based ruling systems in the world in form of kings, priests and politicians or ruling elite and there are money based ruling systems, which control land and resources as well as means of production and distribution. This is how some people use and abuse others and islam opposes that by giving people the concept that constitution has to be supreme authority and also that the constitution must be for peace and peace cannot be achieved without people basing their laws on justice and dealing with each other fairly and more importantly compassionately so that there is botherhood instead of oppression and animosity. Once stability is there only then full speed progress of mankind is really possible and prosperity could result. So long as some people use and abuse others there is no chance for world peace and progress or prosperity.
The human world is divided between itself for its own self created reasons for conflicts. The people who lead others to conflict with rest of people have hidden or open agendas, motives or objectives. If they are harmful for humanity then such people are party of devils and if they are for benefit of humanity then such people are party of of goodness or godly people or party of God.
It may be of help if one looks through my posts if one is really interested in knowing related issues or matters. Islam is not at all about make beliefs that people promote for their own reasons as islam, it is all about needs and wants of people and contains no nonsense.
Make beliefs about jinns, magic and all other such nonsense have nothing to do with quranic text in its own context. The quran is all about how people should try and create a world like paradise here on the earth by following the program given in the quran. Allah warns people again and again that they should not live by rules whereby they end up oppressing each other and being unjust, unfair and even cruel to each other living like animals or worse enemies. Fire of hatred must not be given chance to ignite or world will end up a terrible hell hole.
For anyone who wants to know anything about islam must read the quran thoroughly before asking any questions about it because having no sense whatsoever about the quran does not help understand the problems muslims have with the understanding of the quranic text.
Re: What is Jinn
Just an FYI, he is talking about jin and not gin
What the heck is a gin?
Re: What is Jinn
The Jinn are beings created with free will, living on earth in a world parallel to mankind. The Arabic word Jinn is from the verb ‘Janna’ which means to hide or conceal. Thus, they are physically invisible from man as their description suggests. This invisibility is one of the reasons why some people have denied their existence. However, (as will be seen) the affect which the world of the Jinn has upon our world, is enough to refute this modern denial of one of Allah’s creation. The origins of the Jinn can be traced from the Qur’an and the Sunnah. Allah says:
“Indeed We created man from dried clay of black smooth mud. And We created the Jinn before that from the smokeless flame of fire”
(Surah Al-Hijr 15:26-27)
Thus the Jinn were created before man. As for their physical origin, then the Prophet (saws) has confirmed the above verse when he said: “The Angels were created from light and the Jinn from smokeless fire” [1]](The World of Jinn). It is this description of the Jinn which tells us so much about them. Because they were created from fire, their nature has generally been fiery and thus their relationship with man has been built upon this. Like humans, they too are required to worship Allah and follow Islam. Their purpose in life is exactly the same as ours, as Allah says:
“I did not create the Jinn and mankind except to worship Me”
(Surah Ad-Dhariyat 51:56)
Jinns can thus be Muslims or non-Muslims. However, due to their fiery nature the majority of them are non-Muslims. All these non-Muslim Jinns form a part of the army of the most famous Jinn, Iblis- the Shaytan[2]](The World of Jinn). Consequently, these disbelieving Jinns are also called Shaytans (devils). As for the Jinns who become Muslims, then the first of them did so in the time of the Prophet (saws) when a group of them were amazed by the recitation of the Qur’an. Allah orders the Prophet to tell the people of this event:“Say (O’ Muhammed): It has been revealed to me that a group of Jinn listened and said; ‘Indeed we have heard a marvellous Qur’an. It guides unto righteousness so we have believed in it, and we will never make partners with our lord’”
(Surah Al-Jinn 72:1-2)
In many aspects of their world, the Jinn are very similar to us. They eat and drink, they marry, have children and they die. The life span however, is far greater then ours. Like us, they will also be subject to a Final Reckoning by Allah the Most High. They will be present with mankind on the Day of Judgement and will either go to Paradise or Hell.
Narration - Reported by al-Tahhaawi in Mushkil al-Athaar, 4/95, and by al-Tabaraani in al-Kabeer, 22/214
Abu Tha’labah al-Khushani said: “The Messenger of Allaah S,A,W said:
‘The jinn are of three types: a types that has wings, and they fly through the air; a type that looks like snakes and dogs; and a type that stops for a rest then resumes its journey.” [Shaykh al-Albaani said in al-Mishkaat (2/1206, no. 4148): al-Tahhaawi and Abu’l-Shaykh reported it with a saheeh isnaad]
The Origin of the Jinn
The jinn are NOT fallen angels. They were created from a smokeless flame of fire. The first recorded jinn to be disobedient is Iblis. Disbelieving, disobedient jinn and humans are known as shayateen (satans).
The Noble Qur’an - Ar-Rahmaan 55:15, 15
He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery.
And the jinns did He create from a smokeless flame of fire.
The Noble Qur’an - Al-Hijr 15:26-42
26. And indeed, We created man from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud.
27. And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire.
28. And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud.
29. “So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him.”
30. So, the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together.
31. Except Iblîs (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators.
32. (Allâh) said: “O Iblîs (Satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators?”
33. [Iblîs (Satan)] said: “I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud.”
34. (Allâh) said: “Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajîm (an outcast or a cursed one).” [Tafsîr At-Tabarî]
35. “And verily, the curse shall be upon you till the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection).”
36. [Iblîs (Satan)] said: “O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected.”
37. Allâh said: "Then, verily, you are of those reprieved,
38. “Till the Day of the time appointed.”
39. [Iblîs (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all.
40. “Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them.”
41. (Allâh) said: “This is the Way which will lead straight to Me.”
42. "Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghâwîn (Mushrikûn and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.).
***Hadith - Sahih Bukhari 4:533, Narrated Jabi bin 'Abdullah R,A
THE HOLY PROPHET S,A,W ***
said, “Cover your utensils and tie your water skins, and close your doors and keep your children close to you at night, as the Jinns spread out at such time and snatch things away. When you go to bed, put out your lights, for the mischief-doer (i.e. the rat) may drag away the wick of the candle and burn the dwellers of the house.” Ata said, "The devils’'.
Hadith - Al-Muwatta 54.33***
...The snake stirred on the end of the spear and the youth fell dead. No one knew which of them died first, the snake or the
youth. That was mentioned to the Messenger of Allah S,A,W "There are jinn in Madina who have become muslim. When you see one of them, call out to it for three days. If it appears after that, then kill it, for it is a shaytan."
Re: What is Jinn
It will be good idea for you to quote the rest of the verses of the quran and the ahadith related to jinns and then see contradictions you create within quranic text and between ahadith themselves and between quran and ahadith and between the quran and the ahadith and the real world realities.
This is how it will become clear to yourself and others how words jinn and shaitaan has been interpreted wrongly either due to ignorance of interpreters or due to their intention to mislead masses for their own agendas.
Please try and realise the context of the quranic text before you accept or eject any interpretation of the quran and hadith. This is the main hurdle or problem that people have turned the quran in to a senseless mubo jumbo having little to do with what it was revealed for ie guidance of mankind towards the set goal islam=peace.
To know this study also what kings and their mullahs have been doing to divine scriptures in general and how they have been controlling masses in particular to use and abuse them at will.
This will also help people see which ahadith have been attributed to the prophet possibly correctly and which have been invented by these people to take people away from the set goal of the quran to their own direction.
For my point of view please see my other posts. Jinns and their adventures are plenty of make belief childish stories. Jinns are people just like ins are. kafir are people like muslims are. The contrast between words jinn and ins must not be taken lightly just like contrast between words kufr and islam.
See the following interpretation of the quranic surahs and compare it to the rest. This is verse by verse interpretation rather than commentary. The quran needs little intervention by interpreters if we have the idea of what it is all about or what it is aiming for. It is all about education based revolution by humanity for peace. It is manifesto of islam to be spread so that if people like it then they come together and form a good human community based upon the quran as the constitution for it. It is all about bringing about divine kingdom here on the earth and getting awarded for it in hereafter. In short it is all about stopping world from being a hell hole and putting all effort in trying to turn it in to a paradise here on the earth.
AZAAN to SALLAH and SALAAH should lead to prosperity through zakaah=removal of all ills from human society. It is all creating a united single human community for purpose of peace.
Surah 92 AL-LAYL – The period of darkness of ignorance
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
1 I cite as evidence the period of darkness of ignorance as it keeps things wrapped up in mysteries keeping mankind confused about them
2 and I cite as evidence the period of light of knowledge as it brings things to light for mankind to see them for what they really are.
3 The people who manage and the people are managed are not evolved
4 but for the reason that your efforts complement each other towards the set goal of peace.
5 So for the management, that helps people get what they need thus keeps itself consistent with community
6 and stands up faithfully for the rights of people,
7 We shall facilitate the easy way towards the goal of peace.
8 However for the management, that tries to take away rights of people to enslave them and considers itself independent of Allah and humanity
9 therefore opposes what is proper in sight of Allah and good for humanity,
10 We shall leave open for it as per his own desire the way to hardship and painful suffering.
11 Just think, of what benefit will its wealth be for it, if it itself lives on a condemnable life?
12 Even though it is for Us to provide guidance yet it is up to mankind itself to follow it,
13 because it is always up to Us to decide everything about Our projects.
14 Therefore, you are clearly warned by Us regarding fire of hatred amongst yourselves,
15 in which burn none save the ones who want to cause harm and destruction to others,
16 such as deny what is good for mankind and pay no heed to Our guidance.
17 However such as follow Our guidance we keep them away from doing such harmful things,
18 the ones who use what they have to help others and stay clear of inflicting harm on others,
19 seeking no other favour from anyone nor expecting in return,
20 save the establishment of goal of their Lord, the Most High.
21 It is such people who shall soon be well-pleased with program of Allah their Lord for the outcome of their faithful actions.
Surah 93 AD-DUHA – The Spreading of Light of Knowledge
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
[1] I cite for evidence the spreading of light of knowledge
[2] whereby in due course the darkness of ignorance shall vanish.
[3] Your Lord did not plan to keep you the people in same the state nor has He left you aimless.
[4] Therefore the time to come should be more productive for you than the time already passed.
[5] So that your Lord rewards you with an outcome with which you are well pleased.
[6] Did He not find you the people without any goal and set you the goal?
[7] And did He not find you looking for guidance and gave you direction?
[8] Moreover He found you trying to accomplish a supportive network for each others so He helped you do that.
[9] Therefore never treat any individual in need of due support with contempt
[10] and never deny due livelihood for any who is in need of it.
[11] And keep in forefront of your mind the progress and prosperity you ought attain due to revelation of your Lord so be helpful and do good for others accordingly.
Surah 94 AL-INSHIRAH= The clarity of purpose
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
[1] Have We not made clear for you your goal?
[2] To remove thereby from you your problems and difficulties
[3] which have been breaking your back.
[4] That is why We have pointed out for you the need for your hard work.
[5] Because surely with hard work can be removed problem and difficulties.
[6] Surely for every problem there is a solution.
[7] Therefore if you want freedom from problems then fix your energy on achieving the set goal.
[8] and become fully involved in serving mission of your Lord till it is achieved.
Surah 95 AT-TEEN=The enlightenment
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
[1] I cite as evidence the need for enlightenment through light of wisdom
[2] of the sacred constitution.
[3] for the peace in this very kingdom of the earth.
[4] We have indeed evolved man capable of accomplishing such a great task
[5] but We have also allowed him the choice to debase himself to the lowest of the low,
[6] nonetheless those who commit to working for peace and take actions to remove obstacles from the path of peace for people they will indeed achieve their goal without fail.
[7] So what can prevent you from establishing the goal of peace after having the divine constitution?
[8] Is rule of Allah not unique of the rule of all the rulers?
Surah 96 AL-ALAQ= The Evolutionary Tree Of Life
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
[1] Proclaim in the name of your Sustainer Who evolved all that exists.
[2] He evolved mankind from tree of life as ultimate product of evolution like a fruit suspends from the tree.
[3] Proclaim to people that your Sustainer is full of blessings for mankind,
[4] Who manifests things in due course of time
[5] gradually unfolding before man what he knew not.
[6] Yet man violates divine limits set for his own security and survival,
[7] thinking himself independent of divine guidance and humanity,
[8] however his security lies in accomplishing goal set by your Lord.
[9] O mankind, have you considered the case of such a person who stops
[10] Our servant from communicating Our message to humanity for installing Our constitution in the land?
[11] Do you consider such a person following the right course of actions
[12] or striving for the good of mankind? Or,
[13] do you consider such a person following the wrong course of actions who denies the rights of others and turns others away from the course of actions that are good for humanity?
[14] Does he not know that Allah is observing all that he does?
[15] Nay, he is not following the right course of actions! Let him know that if he stops not, We will leave him to be dragged along his leadership in to painful suffering,
[16] His leadership that lies to deceive him.
[17] So let him call on his supporters to help him in his cause,
[18] We too invite those who wish to install and establish Our rule in the land.
[19] Nay! Do not align with him instead commit to Our constitution and follow it faithfully to achieve the set out goal.
Surah 97 AL-QADR - THE SET GOAL
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
[1] Surely We have revealed the Quran during the period of thickest of darkness of ignorance for a set purpose/goal.
[2] And what will explain to you of what benefit the darkness period set goal is?
[3] Accomplishing the darkness period set goal is better than love for dominance by harm and destruction.
[4] The divine messengers are sent with authority of revelation for the good of humanity wherein is instruction of their Lord about each and every affair,
[5] Peace is the goal set for mankind, therefore is revealed the Quran so that thereby breaks the dawn of enlightenment for establishing it.
Surah 98 AL-BAYYINAH – The Clear Proof
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
[1] Many of those who opposed Our rule from among the people of the book because they ascribed sovereignty to others than Allah were never going to give up their opposition and atrocities against each other until the rule of Allah was clearly established before their very eyes,
[2] by a messenger from Allah following scriptures that lead to freedom from all ills
[3] because therein are written universal goals and guidelines for people to establish.
[4] As for those who were given the book before the Quran, they divided into sects despite there came to them clear proof by following their own ideas/make beliefs.
[5] Even though they were advised to follow nothing other than the constitution of Allah faithfully, with sincerity establishing the divine system and attaining freedom from lack of needs and wants because that is what they were told is the true establishment of divine constitution for the good of mankind.
[6] For this reason those who oppose Our goals and guidelines from among the people of the book because they attribute sovereignty to other than Allah are to remain in painful state of existence to dwell therein for all their lives. They are most destructive of the creatures.
[7] Surely those who commit to working for peace and take actions to remove obstacle from the way of people to peace are most constructive of the creatures.
[8] Their reward from their Lord will be the blissful kingdoms throughout which flow rivers of all things they need and desire to dwell therein for as long as they remain committed to rule of Allah for the good of humanity. Allah will be found consistent for supporting them with His plan and they will be found conssitent in implemented His plan with their actions. That is the kind of life for him who is mindful of advice of his Lord.
Surah 99 AL-ZILZAL= the COMMOTION
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
1 Consider the time when the uprising hits this land and changes the ruling system to its very core,
2 and this land expels its destructive heavy weights,
3 Yet the arrogant man will ask himself, what is happening to it?
4 At that time it will repeat whatever has been happening upon it throughout time,
5 for your Lord set it up according to His revealed rule of cause and effect.
6 At that time people shall be aligned to proceed in accordance to divine constitution to be shown the results of their actions.
7 From then on whoever does an atom’s weight of good for others shall see its result there in full,
8 and whoever does an atom’s weight of harm to others shall see its effect in there in full.
Surah 100 AL-ADIYAT= The violent uprising
1 I cite as evidence the violent uprising
2 due to spreading of the fire of hatred,
3 thereby things are pushed towards a new start,
4 while leaving a trail behind for people to come to learn from it,
5 thus arrange forces against each other
6 when man does not respect advice of His Lord;
7 and surely he himself bears witness to it by his actions,
8 because he violates divine constitution in his hot pursuit of power and wealth.
9 But is he not aware that in time lot more treasures buried in the earth will be found out?
10 and the good or bad intention and motives in the minds of people for or against each other will be made evident,
11 surely their Lord will bring them round to realise it the day they understand his advice.
Surah 101 AL-QARIAH – THE REVOLT
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
1 The terrible revolt!
2 What is the terrible revolt?
3 And what will explain to you what the terrible revolt is?
4 It is the time when masses become like scattered moths in state of chaotic agitation.
5 and the anchors of the community prove worthless like puffed up wool without weight.
6 At that time he whose scale of goodness for others is found heavy,
7 he shall have the pleasure of the masses.
8 However he whose scale of goodness for others is found light,
9 he shall have to live in anxiety.
10 And what will explain to you, what this anxiety is?
11 It is a state of existence in agonising suffering.
Surah 102 AT-TAKATHUR - the RIVALRY
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
[1] O mankind, you have fallen into negative competition for controlling each other through resources,
[2] so much so that you are driving each other to destruction.
[3] But not for long because soon you will come face to face with results for doing this,
[4] For sure, soon you will come to see the result of doing this.
[5] Nay it isn’t too late, if you were to learn the knowledge that leads to life of security.
[6] Or you will continue living in hell,
[7] in that case you will continue living in it till you are engulfed by it
[8] then you people will inquire of each other at the time regarding the blessing of Allah the Quran to get yourselves out of this situation.
Surah 103 AL-ASR= the Human History
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
[1] I cite the history of mankind as the evidence
[2] that mankind always chose to live the harmful and destructive way
[3] save those who committed to working for peace and did everything to put things right for their community thus they joined together for the right purpose and worked hard constantly.
Surah 104 AL-HUMAZAH – THE BLOOD-SUCKER
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
[1] Denounce every bloodsucker and warmonger
[2] who amasses power and wealth inappropriately and keeps it ready for gathering more at the expense of all others.
[3] All because he thinks that his gathering of wealth this way will give him security forever!
[4] By no means instead he will of a surety be thrown into turmoil.
[5] What will make you understand what turmoil is?
[6] It is the fire of hatred between people that Allah makes obvious
[7] such that will consume the very being of people,
[8] closing in upon them from every side
[9] spreading in huge columns of flames to engulf them.
Surah 105 AL-FEEL – The white elephant
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
[1] Have you people not considered how your Lord let the people of great power and wealth face the consequences of their deeds?
[2] Did He not bring all their scheming to nothing?
[3] By sending upon them results of their actions bundles upon bundles,
[4] striking them as if they were hailstones,
[5] thus He let them be like an empty field of stalk and straw of which the grain has been eaten up.
Surah 106 AL-QUREYSH
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
[1] For thousands of Qureysh,
[2] their agreements were important because thereby they negotiated their livelihood in winter as well as summer,
[3] For the same reason they should abide by the terms of the Lord of this constitution,
[4] Who provided them with livelihood even in place of scarcity thus gave them freedom from worry of starvation and war.
Surah 107 AL-MA‘UN= the mutual cooperation
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
[1] Have you considered the people who deny the benefits of installing the divine constitution for others?
[2] Such as those who harshly repel individuals who need support
[3] and they do not work for providing livelihood for those who need it.
[4] Bad news is for people who are connected with each other this way,
[5] those who refuse to shoulder their responsibilities towards each other as a community,
[5] those who do good to others just for show to fool the masses
[6] because in private they refuse to share with others even the necessities of life.
Surah 108 AL-KAUTHAR=the prosperity
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
[1] Indeed, We have blessed you with a constitution for peace through progress for prosperity.
[2] So follow strictly the constitution of your Lord and sacrifice your comfort for the welfare of the mankind.
[3] It is only your opponent who will be barring himself from the constitution for peace and prosperity of humanity.
Surah 109 AL-KAFIRUN – THE OPPONENTS
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
[1] Say, O you the people who reject and oppose constitution of Allah without any due consideration!
[2] I do not approve goals that you serve due to harm and destruction they cause mankind
[3] yet you do not serve the constitution that I serve even when it is for your own peace, progress and prosperity.
[4] However I will never approve harmful and destructive aims that you serve,
[5] even if you do not serve the constitution that I serve.
[6] For you are consequences for following your goals just as for me are for following my constitution.
Surah 110 AN-NASR – the DIVINE HELP
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
[1] O messenger! When result of Allah’s help appears because door of enlightenment is flung open
[2] and you see people coming to support the rule of Allah in multitudes.
[3] Then work hard to establish sovereignty of your Lord in the land and overcome all problems thereby. Surely He is ever ready to turn to people through His revealed constitution.
Surah 111 AL-LAHAB – THE FLAME OF HATRED
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
[1] The rule of ultimate hate monger will vanish and so will perish such a one himself!
[2] His wealth and whatever he earns will secure him not.
[3] Soon will he suffer the painful agony,
[4] and so will his following, the follower of myths and make beliefs
[5] which will be like a rope of palm-leaf fibre around its neck unless it accepts rule of Allah.
Surah 112 AL-IKHLAS= THE ULTIMATE REALITY
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
[1]Proclaim! He, Allah is the only one who has right to rule the universe,
[2] because Allah is eternal,
[3] He begets not so none can inherit His kingdom nor is He begotten so he did not inherit the kingdom of anyone,
[4] so none is like unto Him, for He is only one of His kind, the unique ruler.
Surah 113 AL-FALAQ–the breaking of DAWN OF ENLIGHTENMENT
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
[1] Proclaim that I seek security for mankind through advice of the Lord through breaking of dawn of enlightenment
[2] from the harmful effects of all that He has created,
[3] and from the harmful effects of darkness of ignorance when it takes over peoples’ minds,
[4] and from the harmful actions of those who cause animosity between mankind for their own ends,
[5] and from the harmful actions of the covert operator when he complicates matters that are simple out of envy or jealousy.
Surah 114 AN-NAAS – THE PEOPLE
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
[1] Proclaim, I seek protection for the mankind against harm and destruction through constitution of the Lord of the mankind,
[2] the sovereign of the mankind,
[3] the God of the mankind,
[4] from the prompting of the plotter against divine rule
[5] who tries to raise destructive ambitions and harmful desires in the minds of the people against each other,
[6] from among the influential people and from among the influenced masses.

I guess I've gotten a vague understanding, I'll read up and ask a local arab friend about it.
Re: What is Jinn
**
The creation of Humans and Jinns?
**
55:15 “And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire.”
Almighty Allah mentions that He created mankind from clay, like that used in pottery, and created the Jinns from the tip of the flame of a smokeless fire. This was said by Ad-Dahhak from Ibn Abbas. It was also said by Ikrimah, Mujahid, Al-Hasan and Ibn Zayd. Al-Awfi reported from Ibn Abbas that “From the best of the fire, from its smokeless flame.”
Imam Ahmad recorded that Aisha r.a. said that Prophet Muhammad
said: “The angels were created from light, the Jinns from a smokeless flame of fire, and Adam a.s. from what was described to you.” Muslim also collected this Hadith.
**
When Jinn were created?
**
[15:27]“And the jinn We created before from scorching fire.”
Means Jinn were created before creating humans from the smokeless flame of fire. Ibn Abbas said, “It is the smokeless flame that kills.” Abu Dawud at-Tayalisi said that Shu’bah narated to them from Abu Ishaq, who said: "I visited Umar Al-Asamm when he wa sick and he said: Shall I not tell you a Hadith that I heard from Abdullah bin Masud. He said: This smokeless flame is one of the seventy parts of the smokeless fire from which the Jinn were created.
**Do Jinn’s die?
**
In Sahih Bukhari Hadith narrated Ibn 'Abbas: The Prophet
used to say, “I seek refuge (with YOU) by Your 'Izzat, None has the right to be worshipped but You Who does not die while the Jinns and the human beings die.”
**Do jinns eat?
**
In Sunan Abu-Dawud narrated Abdullah ibn Mas’ud: A deputation of the jinn came to the Prophet
and said: O Muhammad, forbid your community to cleans themselves with a bone or dung or charcoal, for in them Allah has provided sustenance for us. So the Prophet
forbade them to do so.

Re: What is Jinn
Jinns cannot harm you. One should not be afraid of them. Such a creature do exist as mentioned in Quran. However, it is not encouraged to speculate about them to which we have no knowledge of. One can also see humans as jinns. Allah says that he created humans and jinns to worship him. Now, one can also think of people who do not pray and follow allah's commandments as jinns, and see it as them having hearts of fire ( as if when something is burned in fire, it usually gets in dark color ) .. you can relate other verses or beliefs with this concept.. i.e : it is said that those whom Allah guides, none can misguide them, and those whom allah misguide, none can guide.. or the verse from surah al-baqarah where Allah says... in their heart was a disease , and allah increased their disease.. or verse 130 from chapter 6 which says : " O company of Jinn and men! did not Messengers come to you from among yourselves who related to you My Signs and who warned you of the meeting of this your day?’ They will say, ‘We bear witness against ourselves.’ And the worldly life deceived them. And they will bear witness against themselves that they were disbelievers."
Allah referred as jinn and men. I dont think any prophet was sent for jinns? so i guess, in that sense, people who reject messengers can be called jinns.. though other form of creature called jinn must be there as well..
though, this is just my own understanding. I could be wrong. You are more than welcome not to agree.

Hmm I agree with you except for the part where you say there werent prophets for Jinn. First of all we know that Prophet Sulaiman (Peace be upon him) specifically came to guide Jinn and take control over them and inherit the kingdom of his father. He came in an era when black majic was at it's peak and who were the cause? the Jinn. So one can say that he came for Jinn. Other than that you never know, there might be Jinn Prophets. Its not neccassary that humans have to be prophets right? or maybe im wrong, but Allah in that verse is addressing the Jinns and Mankinds, and if there were people who had messangers and there were people from mankind who rejected messengers, then since Jinns are mentioned along wiht mankind, it HAS to mean that there were Jinn who had messangers and there were Jin whor ejected messengers PROBLEM SOLVED :) lol, no but seriously I mean it, may be I'm wrong though. Other than that calling a human a Jinn is wrong, because 'Jinn' is specifically used for those creatures, rejectors can be called KAFIRS but not Jinn. As there are Muslim humans and Kafirs humans there are Muslim Jinns and? Of course, Kafir Jinns. PROBLEM SOLVED AGAIN ;) lol. Other than that one can say that since Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was 'KhatimulAmbiya' and since he was 'RahmatullilAalameen'. He was the Prophet of Alameen, then you have to know that Aalameen contains Mankind, Jinn and all other creatures. And we know that his message reached the Jinn because Allah mentioned that their mesage reached, I dont know whether in Surah Jinn or Surah Ahqaf, and it is also mentioned in Sahih Muslim I think.

oh ok. Yeah, like I said, what I said above was all my very own understanding. Your post sort of make sense too :). Can you shed some light on Prophet Suleman(as)'s prophetic life?
Kafirs are rejectors...ok yeah but what about jinns? are they also capable of rejecting or accepting prophets ?
Rehmatullilaalameen means rehmat and mercy for the entire universe. But that doesnt mean we can classify other creatures other than humans as kafirs or Muslim... this way we'll have groups of kafirs in penguins, monkeys, horses, and whale fishes.
ps: sorry, im just arguing for argument sake.. but good topic to keep an eye on.
Re: What is Jinn
It’s ok, I fully respect your right to disagree
- For the who of the story of Prophet Sulaiman, read the Stories of the Prophets by Ibn Kathir, here’s a link to his story of Prophet Sulaiman:
http://www.islamawareness.net/Prophets/sulaiman.html
It’s not that long and is written by one of the greatest Quranic Muffassirs and historians, I hope you know who he is.

Agreed, Rahmatullilaalameen means Mercy for the Aalameen, but look, how is he spreading mercy expert through the Quran? In this question lies the answer. This means that the Quran is the source of that “Mercy”, now this applies to of course all those capable of following Allah, such as humans Jinns angels and others. To those who have a free will, have a choice to follow that Rahma,t such as jinn and humans and other creatures who have a free will and those who don’t have free will such as angels and I Think animals must believe in it as they don’t have a free will.
-
Jinns are capable of rejecting and accepting Allah, his prophets, they are capable of obeying and disobeying Allah and his prophets. Jinns are creatures like humans they have a free will, unlike angels who are literally robots of Allah and can’t ever disobey him as they don’t have the tendency to disobey him. As for animals I think they are like angels as well. But Jinn have a free will because as you can see Iblees was a jinn who first worshipped Allah and then disobeyed him. This is clearly mentioned in Surah Kahf Verse 50 I think. I do remember the text which was something along the lines:
We ordered the angels to prostrate to Adam and they did except for Iblees, he was from the Jinn, so he disobeyed the commandment of his Lord
At first it seems that Allah is including Ibless in the angels thus making him an angel, but the thing is, it is a rule of Arabic grammar that when a majority are mentioned the minority are included, this I think is called Tagleeb, like of my class has 48 girls and 2 boys and I order say ‘All the girls stand up’ I will be automatically including the 2 boys.
But seriously in short Jinns are creatures like humans who have a free will, and live eat sleep reproduce etc. And will be judged. There is nothing to fear them for but instead we pray for protection against them as they are usually helpers of Ibless and when they are helpers of Ibless they are called Shayateen or Shatan.
Re: What is Jinn
^^ Assalam o alaikum,
Muhammad PBUH has been mercy to aalameen ever since he pbuh came to this world. But as you see, Quran surely is a miracle of Allah revealed on Holy prophet.. for those who are capable to understand it and/or to read it. It is readily available to muslims and non muslims alike.. only condition is, one must know how to read it. Those who accept and follow the commandments of Quran are Muslims and collect mercy and blessings of Muhammad PBUH, whereas, people who dont do not get such blessings. That is free will. On the other hand, animals are not bound to believe in Muhammad PBUH. Even if i were to say they dont have free will.. they simply cannot grasp the idea of revelation, understanding of something and implementing it in their life, accepting or rejecting something. Rehmat of Muhammad PBUH is on animals, jinns and everyone in the world is in a sense that through His coming, a perfect religion has been given to humankind through which all animals, jinns, and every living creature in this world are told their rights and how they must be treated. We as believers are bound to spread this blessings and rehmat of Muhammad PBUH to all the creatures in the world.
Here was the verse you mentioned above :
18:50 And remember the time when We said to the angels, ‘Submit to Adam,’ and they all submitted, **except Iblis. He was one of the Jinn; and he disobeyed the command of his Lord. **Will you then take him and his offspring for friends instead of Me while they are your enemies? Evil is the exchange for the wrongdoers.
He was included as part of angels before. However, if you see other verses of Quran, it says that angels are made of light but jinns are made of fire and wind as said in 15:27. How is it possible that if once he was an angel ( made of light ), all of a sudden he was transformed into a jinn? Also notice, he was called jinn when he disobeyed..making his heart/intention impure.. thus comparing his deeds to that of fire/hell.
I do not think jinns do all the same tasks a normal human being does (sleep/eat/reproduce etc). The offspring of iblees/satan are people attributing his quality of rejecting..i.e: those who reject/those who are hell bound.
Again.. i have not rejected the existence of some other form of creature of Allah called jinns.. i'm merely trying to see if I can connect dots to my own understanding of this belief as well.
