I am not sure what the answer is to this riddle but I'll take a few guesses...
Is it:
Electricity, Gas, Water (these go to everyhouse and stay outside at night when everyone is sleeping).
Or maybe its something ludicrous like Father christmas, or reindeer....
Or maybe it is an elf, tooth fairy,
Or maybe it is Sunshine, daylight (there at day but absent at night)...
