As received through email (quoted below). What is Hanukkah? Any idea
**
This year, Hanukkah actually starts before Thanksgiving. The first night of Hanukkah begins at sundown on the 27th of November, and Thanksgiving is on the 28th. The last time this happened was in 1888, before the date for Thanksgiving was changed to where we observe it now. And it won’t happen again for **77,000 years!
**Jesus celebrated Hanukkah. “And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter. And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon’s porch” (John 10:22-23).

Re: What Is Hanukkah?
The name “Hanukkah” derives from the Hebrew verb “חנך”, meaning “to dedicate”. On Hanukkah, the Jews regained control of Jerusalem and rededicated the Temple.

The region was dominated by Jewish population since centuries. Syria is not far away from Palestine. Many Prophets (Jewish) mentioned in Old testament belonged to that region.
