depends on the kind of job you have…i’ve complete freedom as to what i do…i’m responsible for my work which i complete on time. i even have to option of NOT going to work on time. i don’t punch a clock! thanx God! :slight_smile: it doesn’t eman that i don’t show up at work on time. :slight_smile:

Also don’t companies have rules re surfing while on the job? I realize we need breaks while working. But on average how many hours are devoted to GS FB etc while on the job?

i’m a post doc researcher and i’m in my lab or in my cubicle, in front of my comp, doing things and i’ve complete freedom. :slight_smile: i don’t work by the hour…roughly 7 hours a day.

Point taken. Your case is different. But do you think web surfing while on the job can hurt the employer?

of course…i think it’s NOT ethically, morally or religiously CORRECT to steal time from the employer for which they pay you…if work suffers or not completed on timely fashion then the violator is GUILTY! right?

you are assuming that ppl are posting while they work…that may not necessarily be the case…

as for the question is it right to surf the net while at work…no…not at all

kkF, you are lucky! My job isn’t 9-5 either. I can start/leave or do whatever I want, whenever I want. But there is always so much work =(

I am assuming nothing. It is clear that weekend are slow at GS as UZ stated. So people do post more on weekdas. A subset of that post while at work. A subset of that post during break time. Which is fine.

My post is addressing those that are at work and go to GS FB over and beyond their break time. If your point is no one does that, I would respectfully submit your position is naive, at best.

Good for you you don’t surf. ( I do spend 15 min during lunch on Financial sites then go for a 30 min walk. That with 2 coffee breaks and I am all set).
