Like what is served on a daily basis? Is it good food? Lots of variet? or just OK food, which will have to do.

Kya yaad kara diya. Its been sometime now. In our hostel, there were two types of foods: Arab food & Pakistani food. Well, Arab food was kinda rich peoples food, more fancy with pulao, biryani with roast chicken, kofta etc & salad raita was everyday.
The other type looked like poor mans food ( I am not joking!) If you put bothg plates side by side you would knew intantly Paki food was aloo ghost, tinda ghost, sometimes koftas that were like hard balls and Qurhi with rock solid pakoras.
Tast I guess was ok. Acutally everything tastes good at that age 
Had to eat something anyway 
Otherwise it was Anarkali to the rescue

Sure it was expensive. Many Paki studnts got it too.

Chicken was an every day item. i got so tired of it that I refused to eat it for atleast a year after I came back home. Other than that there was alot of variety but the taste sucked big time. It was a good way of losing weight btw, since i would skip meals all the time.

I have stopped eating ande aloo after I had them at hostel.... other than that food was good because we had female cooks.. I actually liked the nan kabab day for some reasons but still i hated living in the dorms and would cry even when I will be eating so my parents brought me back.. food was just used an excuse though ;-)
oh by the way, we were very close to Super market in Islamabad and I had the life's best french fries there and not to mention the icecream! Hostel days would have been good only if I had my parents with me :$

well i've dined several times with the boarders so can attest to the fact that they mostly get varieties of daaal.. chicken was a rarity, so much so that special invites went out to 'day-scholars' for the occasion... roatees were large but usually burnt.. (high heat in the tandoor cuz of the pressures of making lots of roatees for so many hungry adult males under one roof)..
many a burger boarder (usually the Islamabad/Pindi folks) loathed to be seen in the meal rooms and hence resorted to the shops on campus for their lunch or went out to get some ..... well burgers of course.

When i was in hostel in pakistan, once we got laal lobia with equal propotion of SUNDIES (worms) in it 
and once in palak, there was a snail (Yummy and nutritious food isnt it)

I know it's beyond the topic of "Home economics", but what is dorm life like in Pakistan? I have heard there are strict rules about how late you can stay out, noise, study times and what not? I am sure there is lots of fun to be had, but within those rules.
