Re: What is Dawat-o-Tabligh
Can you define it first please?
So we are clear what kind of questions you are looking for.
Re: What is Dawat-o-Tabligh
Dawat-o-Tabligh is a jamat in which the people joining this jamat go in the path of Allah and preach Islam and try to practice Islam.
Re: What is Dawat-o-Tabligh
Yeah we had a few of that jamaat come to the masjid.
One of them tried to tell me that Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S) used to worship the sun and moon and the stars. Do you believe that too?
Re: What is Dawat-o-Tabligh
Ibrahim’s (alayhis salam) father, Azer, was a stone carver. He carved the images of the idols which his people worshipped. Ibrahim (alayhis salam) grew up in an atmosphere of paganism, in which Allah was just one of many gods worshipped by his people. But Allah chose Ibrahim (alayhis salam) to be His prophet. **Ibrahim (alayhis salam) saw a star when it rose and called upon it as his lord, but when it set he realized that it was powerless. He called upon the moon when it rose in the sky, but it too disappeared as it set. Then he decided to worship the sun when it rose, but even the sun with all its brilliance had to set each evening. It was at this point that Ibrahim (alayhis salam) was ready to acknowledge the supremacy of the Creator of all the heavenly bodies, the Lord of all creation, and a being without equal and without partners. **He tried unsuccessfully to persuade his father and his people to discard the useless idols and to submit themselves wholly to Allah. He promised his father that he would pray for forgiveness for him, and since he had promised, he did pray. But we are told in the Qur’an that we should shun pagans and we should not pray for them (Qur’an 9:113-114).

LOL you do believe that don't you? ...LOL
First admit that you think that is true..then I will debunk your theory.
The truth of the matter is that most of the people out there trying to teach dont know Islam themselves. So I always recommend. FIRST Learn. THEN Teach.
Now tell me if you think that Hazrat Ibrahimn used to worship the celestial bosdies or not/ please? And then wait for my reply please.
Re: What is Dawat-o-Tabligh
Wait Dua_G do you think that too?
Come one ...someone on GS must know better?
Will wait, cause it will be more fun to debunk more people at the same time?
Re: What is Dawat-o-Tabligh
Since no one dared to reply for over a day, I will go ahead and tell you then.
*Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S) did NOT worship the stars and the moon etc. **According to most scholars he was pretending to do so because he wanted to teach the worshipers of the stars and the moons and the sun a lesson.
*
How do we know this? **
**Firstly, **you know that Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S.) has a slightly sarcastic way of Dawah. A way that would make the mushrikeen think? When he broke the idols at his own village - he said "ask the big one." ( ask the big idol who broke the other idols) If you dont know that story please look it up. This question to the villagers was to make them think that the idols cant speak or for that matter do anything. Hazrat Ibrahim by no means was actually expecting an answer.
Secondly,
"PROPHETS" are not ramdom people chosen later in their life. Prophethood is decided much before the birth of the prophet and those that are going to be prophets never commit the sin of SHIRK. That is a condition of each and every prophet.
Having said that, DUA_G and Diwana please rethink your ideas of what a prophet is. **
**
My recommendation: Please listen and learn from scholars first - before you start your own interpretation of Quran and accuse prophets of doing shirk based on an ayat that you dont understand.

The thread has gone to Ibrahim AS from Dawat-o-Tabligh! :-)
I think you got me all wrong. My post said " Was he talking about this?"
There is no agreement or disagreement from my side there.
Secondly, your theory is also not very true either.
In the zeal of love we say the prophets are chosen before birth and they cannot do certain things including questioning their reason to be in the world or who is their God.
Prophets were not actually required to be prophet at young age.
Please remember, there is no sin in inquiring and searching the truth.
The story of Ibrahim AS is based on his young age and natural growth of inquisitive mind with a good conclusion.
What's so wrong in believing in it?
So tell me, what was the religion of our prophet (PBUH) before he had first revelation at age 40 and who did he worship?
Re: What is Dawat-o-Tabligh
I had once gone for jamaat for 3 days. It was an amazing experience
