What is better ? Under or Over pass ?

Hi,
*
For advancement of any country … needs roadways, all cities should be linked without delay without impediment and log jam! Any stumbling block for transportation of goods or business tour; will consequence in obstacle to steps forward. Roads should be broad, smooth and free of stopping!
The way out are universal! i.e.
To make bridges on busy crossing instead of signal lights
Or
Make under passes *

My Question from any civil engineer or architect or any one is!

What is feasible? Underpass or suspension bridge (bridge) ?
Compare it with expenditure, time to build, and effectiveness!

Personally I like underpasses, to me these are more efficient in making, occupy less space, less cost, and do not need gigantic structure… But this can be used only at ‘+’ 4-way crossing, not at multiprocessing! so, I would like better effectiveness over the cost!

Plz throw in your ideas to make our country better in road ways !
Thanks!

Wouldn't the underpass automatically have an overpass? How else would you go under?

very true :)

let me explain...Indeed every over head bridge must have an underpass...
but there are type of typicle underpass, which is made below the surface level after digging the road, and then one which become over pass is remain on the same level of surface of earth ...
well...:)

Its a rule of thump in transportation engineering that underpasses are a "bit" more costly than fly-over, but it all depends on site. The Bid-dig in Boston is a good example of high cost.

Second that, Underpasses are wayyyyy more exzpensive then over.
the teqn. used for tunneling still expensive and so is structing the tunnel.
-damage can be easier repaired.
-can be built by pre-made pieces and then joined at spot.(can be done in several days)
- Materials used can be/are cheaper( ow I mentioned that before)

etc. etc.
Unfort. I m not a Civil eng. :D and they can help you better then me.
But this are only a 'few' of the many advantages :)

If you have more q I ll try to help you :)

You were talking about less space?
What else do you need the space over some street for?
I mean its not gonna be used or sumthin :)

besides that, it can be an architectual beauty aswell :)

how about mass teletransport? is that the right word "teletransport"?
I was referring to "convert mass into some electronic/electromagnetic" form, send it over some medium and bring them back to life/shape :D, no need of cars, OIL, roads, bridges ;)
