The term Bazurgan-e-Deen is usually used for those Aulia-e-Allah who spread Islam in this region of Indo Pak subcontinent. In my knowledge Hazrat Ali Bin Usman Hajweri Rehmatullah Alaih (popularly known as Data sahib) was amongst the first ones in Bazurgan-e-Deen who came in Lahore from Hajwer (a city in Afghanistan) and spread the light of Islam. Then another big name called Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Rehmatullah Alaih settled in Ajmer (in India) and it is said that about 9 million Hindus converted to Islam due to his efforts. Often the kings of time had to bow and surrender in front of these Bazurgan-e-Deen. These people spread the real spirit of Islam and they used to attract people of all faiths towards them. Not only that, these Bazurgan-e-Deen also stood up and fought against any evil force (or fitna) like Sheikh Ahmad Sirhindi Rehmatullah Alaih (also known as Hazrat Mujaddid Alif Sani) stood up against fitna of Deen-e-Elahi devised by King Akbar. In recent history we have a shining example of Hazrat Pir Meher Ali Shah Rehmatullah Alaih who did jihad against fitna-e-qadianiat. Thus its a long list of these Bazurgan-e-Deen who blessed this land of subcontinent.
