I don’t get it. 
I’ve always had a big appetite and when i was a kid, my great grandfather used to be astounded by the amount i could eat, and used to say “pait ae ya laloo khet ae?”

my impression of the term is a little different.
its similar to saying you are so ghetto.
could be used for dressing style or more often for jokes/humour.

The background is that most of the political unrests in Pakistan either started from Laloo Khait or if they were not started from there , when people from Laloo Khait got involved , they turned very destructive and bloody. Hence the people from Laloo khait have become to be known as aggressive , controversial , destructive etc etc.
And there are many traits which have been associated to people from Laloo Khait like being foul mouth , illiterate.
From Pakistani perspective Laloo Khait is not ghetto/slum , houses there are made of concrete not straw , houses have electricity , running water, sewer system, natural gas which you will not find in the ghettos/slums of Pakistan.
They do are not racially or ethnically oppressed minority either. Laloo Khait is not a crime ridden area either so labeling it as a ghetto will not be appropriate.

yeah but laloo kheti in y experience is not used as a term for someone being agressive
but more along maila, chichora lines
there are places that are defintely lower in terms of economic standing or infrastructure, korangi, landhi, ranchor lines, lea market etc, but the term has just stuck for lalu khet, although by and large its not as bad as people may think it is.

I was born and brought up there. But today's Laloo Khet is entirely different from the one that used to be in my childhood. MQM instead of uplifting it, has plunged it into further darkness. Now it is overpopulated, full of crime and illiteracy.
By the way there was no need to change its historical name.
