How do you define a good family or a bad family?
Seems like this is brought up every time a rishta is happening. Never figure out what it really means. Most of the time it seems related to a family’s status before Pakistan.

No no no. Not status. A good family is known for its sharafat, ie, theye are hard-working, polite and genuinely good people. Children brought up in these families are taught to respect elders, not to talk back or be aggresive or impolite. Basically, all people in good families are trained to be good and respectable people since childhood, and there for they are often very successful and humble.
A bad family on the other hand does no such effort to culture their children, because they themselves were not cultured. They will be impolite, aggressive, disrespectful and will often divulge into crooked ways to earn a living. A rishta in a bad family means effectively ruining your childrens morals and values.
