Dengue control meeting going on in civil secretariat!
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/ByHMjvOCIAA2ip6.jpg:large
Punjab was hit with the worst ever epidemic of Dengue in 2011. Since then information technology centric interventions by Punjab Information Technology Department have been at the forefront to deal with such outbreaks. Three years down the line, field officers all across Punjab are equipped with smart phones to report surveillance activities on the move using Dengue Tracking System. More than twenty five provincial departments team up every year to fight vector borne disease and speed up surveillance/larviciding activities across Punjab. The campaign is now governed by third party validation. Special Branch carries out surprise visits at vulnerable areas and pinpoint larvae breeding spots, every potential threat is launched as a separate complaint in Electronic Complaint Routing System (ECRS) of PITB. Responsible department/agency resolves complaint per agreed Turn Around Time (TAT) and update complaint status with pictorial evidence.*
*Enabling Data Driven Health Measures!
The disease Surveillance System (DSS), a health related project by PITB, compiles diseases data from the health centers from all over the province and reveals disease trends on weekly basis. These analyses help the health department to craft effective policies and take targeted measures in preventing these diseases.*

Re: What India Can Learn About E-Governance From Pakistan
Until Modi election, family WAS the government in India. Whether at the center or in the states. Whether Kashmir, TamilNadu, Rajastan, MP/UP etc …it is by the family members. Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were only MPs and party leaders yet wielded more power than all ministers and PM put together. President had become a reitree, PM had become the ceremonial rubber stamp and the files were going to Sonia Gandhi and cronies. Her son in law was exmpted from airport checks and is still so! The states were and are even worse. Corruption and nepotism in unimaginable scale, seemed normal.
The last 10 years must be the darkest period in India where feudalism bordering on slavery was the norm in Indian politics which also made shambles of the economy. Not ONE sector has progressed in real terms. The only reason India is not bankrupt today is because the personal ambitions and drive of the aspiring middle class within India and abroad maintained a nationalistic average.
I am not at all surprised that India is lagging in e-Governance, taken as a whole and particularly considering India being the leader in software engineering. But fortunately that i svery easy to change. I wouldn’t be surprised at all of by next year this time, things have leap frogged.
