It's her legal status that would have me worried. I would be much less concerned about her religious preference since she is showing a strong interest in Islam. Why don't you ask them to wait until your son graduates from college and is able to earn. If you live in New York then it's doubtful that he can afford to get his own place and support a wife as a student anyway. I personally wouldn't allow my son to get married if we were going to be supporting him and his wife. It's just not a responsible situation for a man to be in.
