World would be nothing without Islam- reduce to zero. All the great inventions, science, technology etc. first appeared in holy quran- westerners stole it. Islam is the only true religion.

Islam is not the cause of today's turmoil. The real problem is the creation of terrorist state like Israel and its close allies. Half of the Palestinians have been made refugees in their own homeland and the other half of Palestinians are living like refugees in several other countries. The naked aggression, daily assassination and missile and helicopter gunship attack is helplessly watched by the whole civilized world and the freedom struggle of Palestinian is branded as terrorism.
What is viewed as terrorism from one angle is in fact a freedom struggle from another angle. What is true for Palestinian is also true for Tamilians in SriLanka, Kashmiris in India, Chechens in Russia, IRA in Northern Ireland, Basq people in Spain. It is just a coincidence that most of these regions where freedom struggle is continuing, happen to have muslim population. This doesn't mean that Islam is the cause of violence.
Again, peace, treaty, diplomacy and negotiation always happens between equal partners. There can never be negotiations between unequal partners. And so quite naturally the weaker party always takes to arms until they achieve parity (as happened now in Nepal when the Nepalese Prime Minister himself flew to meet the Maoist leader).
So don't blame Islam for all the violence, rather blame the super powers who are abusing their powers to create an unstable climate in the world.
Empower Palestinians, Tamils in SriLanka, Kashmiris in India, Chechens in Russia and then people will find that there is no so called terrorist outfits in the world and then the whole world will enjoy peace. USA and International community can easily bring an honourable solution to Palestinian people and then American people would find that they need not spend billions of dollors on war on terrorism.
Canada beautifully handled potential terrorism problem by empowering french speaking people in Quebeck. I wish similar approach would have been adopted by India in Kashmir and Americans in Palestine (by accomodating all palestinian people as citizen of a united Israel-Palestine state)

^ For a muslim it is hard to live with a non-muslim in a non-muslim country... and it gets harder when they are opressed like Kashmiris... Pakistan was the only solution to the sub-continent's muslims quest for identity and freedom...All muslims live peacefully with each other in Pakistan.. Dont worry my muslim brother, all these freedom struggles will be successful.. inshallah- except Tamil Land in Sri Lanka.

This is what the world will be without Islam & Muslims in reality.. no need to have fantasy… we as muslims are already told a time shall come like that…

But more seriously speaking I think one of the reasons Prophet Muhammad was successful in spreading Islam in the Arab world was because Arab society before Islam was very illiterate,corrupt and immoral.Islam civilized the arab world and brought discipline in their lives.But still we see that very few muslim countries in the world are democrancies and literacy rate is very low among muslims when compared to people in western europe and north america, without Islam all of this would have been worse.

Danial Shah: If there was no Islam today then the world would be in same dark age as it was before Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) spread the Islam. As desidudecool stated that the reason Islam spread so fast compare to other religions because it surely brought discipline in people’s lives.
Now question should be if there was no Islam, will christianity and judism will be able to take place almost at same level of Islam?

Why you guys are even thinking about this dumb question- Without Islam there is no science, no invention, nothing. Islam is the greatest thing that happened to the mankind.. Without Islam, the world would have been a violent place- with people fighting, killing each other in the name of the religion- Islam is the MOST peaceful religion in the world.

Religion is not the problem, rather with the "extreme few" who twist the teachings of Islam and bear no responsibility for their own actions. History shows that this trend is not new, verses from the Bible were manipulated by extremists to justify the Crusades, the killing of tousands of Eastern Christians and Muslims and the enslavement of Africans.
Unfortuantely some in our communities with low communication and conflict resolution skills act out in violent ways, either by threats or manipulation, in order to control others. Those are the same people that'll play the "victim card" or re-play the "Run down of History" when asked simple questions. They do need to confront difficulties in the socities, instead of hiding in the isolation. Nothing will change until they accept full responsibility for themselves, become constructively critical, and self-critical. At the same time the mainstream, teachers, scholars and leaders need to step up and be great role models. There is a flawed discourse of "us" vs. "them" that pans across Non-Muslims to Muslims. We have a responsibility of reconciling the differences in the socities that we live in rather than acting all self-rightoues.
In the end, we all need guidance.
