Das Reich...... I love PAF...but one has to keep the realistic part alive...F-16 is a fine aircraft no doubt about it...but its not that great compared to russian technology.......and like ssing sahab mentioned...PAF didnt have BVR missiles system uptill now......heck even their mig 21 bison got the BVR and our f-16s were just upgraded. *
*F-15 was made to fight Mig-29.And f-15 is far better than f-16.
^^ we are talking about aircrafts here dude…not the fighting caliber…and u should know ur IAF fighting caliber…which isnt that impressive at all. And for your kind info…the specs of JF-17 thunder are far better than ur LCA…
*And dont even talk about kargil…it was just a fun target practicing for our soldiers. *
^ LOL...Ok stick to topic...but really your arguement of "target practicing" is hilarious. When your fauji regime was unable to hold kargil height, they told you that it was just target practicing...alright...be happy....:D
India even with air support and half of their army struggled to dislodge the fighters during Kargil. Couple of Indian planes were shot down. Just imagine what would have happened if Pakistan and PAF had actively supported these few hundred fighters.

Only plane was shot down, it was MIG21 (if i am right)....and the other was MIG 27 which crashed due to mechanical malfunction. The other aircraft was MI-17 helicopter which was lost to a stinger missile. and half of army was not in kargil.
mig-29 was not designed to counter the eagle , flanker was.....
indian early model mig-29 were definately better than F-16A/B but I doubt if india can get 100+ in 80s ...the soviets needed most of these migs...and by 1988 only 500+ were serving with VVS and they were expected to replace nearly 1500 fishbeds and early floggers.By contrast the US and its allies operated over 2000 falcons by this time.
also keep in mind the IAF had mirage2000 and BVR equipped floggers to throw into battle against AIM-9 eqipped falcons of PAF

Even if america had allowed sale of 111 of those F-16s, it would have also taken time to be delivered completely. Perhaps the deal could only have been closed after 1990. By then india would have also got additional aircrafts armed with R-77, R-73, R-27 etc
^ this is a "what-if" thread ...it was not hard for america to give 100+ F-16s if they wanted to.....but for soviet industry to satisty this huge order in addition to thie own requirement was simply impossible
