But unfortunately population in Karachi are just as ignorant/shot-term-memory in politics as rest of the country, so MQM will get the votes just like PPP, PML, JI would in other parts of the country.

Any party elected by people forms the government. If there is a problem with people and they are ignorant and selecting the wrong parties and politicians, go to them, tell them the reality, instead of using weapons and soldiers to make things better.

the problem is not with the people.. it lies with the political candidates.. My understanding is .. The military is corrupt... but not as corrupt as the previous civilian govt of Pakistan.. The unfortunate reality is .. the people of pakistan have two piles of SHIIT (military & politicians) to choose from. And I think unfortunately the one that stinks lesser than the other happens to be the military. :)

Well no perhaps i worded that wrong.... I meant the military is a better for Pakistan.. keeping in mind thats its probably the least corrupt dept of Pakistan that is capable of doing the Job... :)

History indicated that civilian goverments in Pakistan, though short lived, had never committed such crime and they will never do it either in future. Civilian goverment is formed by the people not the army. If they commit such crime, their days would be numbered.

Yeah civilian governments are much smarter they hire assassins to do the job. They secretly sanction the killing and maiming and then appear shoo innocent. The harsh truth is that no government like challenge to its authority. Bugtee went over the top and militarily challenged the state. State can not sit aside and let it happen. Rasool Baksh Paleejo, stalwart of jiye sindh movement, once said " one can't fight state, state is too powerful" he was referring to armed struggle. Bugtee deserved what he got. I am no fan of military govt and esp. not a fan of Musharraf but in this case he made the right decision.

Rather wisiful thinking. Nobody is making more money these days than the Army, alongside the most corrupt politcians such as Chaudry Shujaat and those Musharraf chose as his ally

Army's finances may not have been touched but its corruption in Musharraf's era cannot be ignored either.
