Salam,
First of all you should note that, YES This is Possible. And you might have heard your elders tell you (espcecially if you’re a girl) to do the following:
- not wear strong perfume at night (especially around trees)
- Don’t leave your hair open (especially around trees)
- Cover yourself when you go out at night.
- Don’t sing!
- Dont recite anything beautifully (especially under trees)
- Don’t loiter in places where you can expect to find jinns.
The last advice is what the Prophet pbuh gave to us also, Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) told us not to loiter in those places where the Jinns reside, e.g. graveyards, ruins, deserts, market places etc. We have also been commanded to recite the Qur’an frequently in our houses as the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said: “Indeed, the shaytan flees from the house in which Surah Al-Baqarah (the 2nd chapter of the Qur’an) is recited”.
A true story
One of our family friends back home in pakistan, their daughter was possessed by a jinn.
It all started when she and her friends were on the roof of the house, doing adholki. Beside her house was an empty house, and so out of curiosity she started to stare into the house, and saw two eyes staring back at her from the darkness.
She told her friends but no one believed her. Ever since then, (from my mom’s account) the girl developed two personalities, mental institutes cud not cure her, and sedating her was the only options. She would sit in a room alone, and have a chat with someone, if someone were to walk into the room, they would see no one.
Muftis told her that a jinn had possessed you, and he has fallen in love with you. The jinn told them that she was staring at him from the roof, and it was her who started it…believe it or not it was love at first sight.
ANOTHER story
My mom’s close friend from work, used to recite naat beautifully, they were known in the khandaan for reciting naats. So one day while coming back from a naat khaan, they were reciting it in the back of the suzuki, while passing under a tree, a jinn heard the girl reading the naat, and fell in love with her because of that. And bugged her until she would read the naat to him.
After much exorcisms, a deal was made where the girl would now have to go to a certain place once a year, and read the naat to the jinn. only then would he stop harrassing her.
It was freaky, cuz I met this aunty, she is unmarried to date. And she is actually happy with her life, she considers herself married to the jinn!
Jinns from hadiths (Jinns getting attached to us)
**EVERY HUMAN HAS A JINN PARTNER **
Hadith - Sahih Muslim 6757, Narrated Abdullah ibn Mas’ud, similar narration 6759 by 'Aisha, r.a.
Allah’s Apostle saw said: There is none amongst you with whom is not an attache from amongst the jinn (devil). They (the Companions) said: Allah’s Apostle (http://muttaqun.com/dictionary3.html#May Allah’s peace and blessings be on him)saw with you too? Thereupon he said: Yes, but Allah helps me against him and so I am safe from his hand and he does not command me but for good.
Human beings are superior to Jinns. The Jinns can never harm human beings if tackled in the right manner. When a jinn starts to like someone he follows him or her around. If he does something extraordinary and that person gets frightened, the Jinn will tease him more but if he reacts in a brave manner, the Jinn will disappear.
4.1 Mujahid, a student of Ibn Abbas says:-
“After Ibn Abbas’s death a shaytaan would constantly appear before me in the form of Ibn Abbas whenever I started salaah. This got so worse that at times I was forced to break my salaah. So I decided to confront him next time he appeared and so I hid a dagger in my pocket and started salaah. When he came in front of me, I took out the dagger and jumped on him. He disappeared instantly and therafter he never came back.”
4.2 Similarly, Hazrat Thanwi rahmatullahi alaihe has narrated that:- “Once in the city of Kufa, in Iraq, a merchant arrived and was searching for a rented accommodation. All the properties were full and someone directed him to a house which was empty and believed to be haunted. He was so tired that he did not care and decided to rent the property. When he was retiring to bed a huge black jinn came in front of him. He immediately started to recite the ‘Ayatul Kursi’. The jinn also followed his recitation and when he read the words, ‘Wala ya’uduhu hifzuhuma’ (‘And their ( the sky and the earth) safeguarding does not burden him’) the Jinn could not follow and stopped. The person understood the consequences of the words and recited the same words again and again until the jinn faded away. The merchant went to sleep and in the morning when he got up he saw the burnt ashes in the place where the jinn appeared. He was burnt by the power of Allah.”
