What have other Muslim countries done about FB?

To my knowledge Saudi Arabia has banned FB as well, have any other countries?

Re: What have other Muslim countries done about FB?

Saudi has banned only the controversial page, not FB itself.

By the way, who would have GUTS to use FB in Saudi society anyway?

A young Saudi Arabian woman was murdered by her father for chatting on the social network site Facebook, it has emerged.
The unnamed woman from Riyadh was beaten and shot after she was discovered in the middle of an online conversation with a man, the al-Arabiya website reported.

Vietnam has.. hmm, just realised u wanted Muslim countries only sorry

I know of quite a few Saudis who use Facebook (inc Al Sauds lol)

very funny. if u had just realised then u could have gone back and deleted vietnam.

^ I couldn't be bothered. Dunno what ur problem is, have u gotten fed up of accusing random ppl on here of being Indian??

Re: What have other Muslim countries done about FB?

In pakistan we have a mentality to look at arabs as pure and pious but in fact its a crooked nomadic race who are so conservative that they can not be refined in coming 1000 years. Look how they treat muslims of sub continent. Although we follow islam yet we belong to a far superior culture of our land and they have tried through conquests to loot, plunder us and impose their values but we still retain some of our identity yet.

That is enough to show your racist mentality.

A sweeping statement that can not be backed by anything.

"Yusuf Khan" or "Dilip Kumar", you are not the first one I have seen a non-Muslim using a Muslim name on a Pakistani forum.

Re: What have other Muslim countries done about FB?

Other countries do not have illiterate people following selfish mullahs coming out on the streets and damaging life and property in the name of demonstrations against damage to Islam's 'honour'.

The educational systems of these countries (Muslim) need to expand their core curriculum beyond religious studies by a far greater amount than they current do. It's not an insult to god to expand ones knowledge and focus beyond the Quran, it would be insulting to not use the gift of learning that god gave you.

Again and again I see those who are most easily manipulated are those who awash their minds with the words of "religious leaders" or "scholars". The masses (Muslims and Christians) fail to remember that such people are just men who very often have agendas when they 'teach' the masses, be it political ones or otherwise. A Shepherd protects his flock so he may use their wool, the religious leader uses wool to cover his flock's eyes to protect himself and his agenda from being exposed. At the end of the day both men will be left with hairless sheep under their command.

I Think Bangladesh is going to ban too not sure.. heard news about it.

India’s access to the page blocked

http://www.pcworld.com/article/196984/facebook_blocks_access_in_india_to_controversial_page.html

It’s just the religious extremists demanding a ban.. I’d be very surprised if it ever happens considering most Bengalis aren’t v.religious..

Islamic group asks Bangladesh to ban Facebook

DHAKA, May 23 (APP)

A platform of Islamic parties grouped under Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) has demanded the Bangladesh government of banning Facebook in Bangladesh for organizing cartoon competition of great prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM). The demand was made by Dhaka chapter of IAB president Prof ATM Hemayetuddin while addressing a protest meeting organized by the party in Dhaka Sunday evening against the move to hold cartoon competition of Prophet Muhammad (SM).

He said Bangladesh is a country of 90 percent Muslims and the government will have to register strong protest against such move on behalf of Rasul-loving (Muhammad (SM)) people.

The IAB leader further asked the government to carryout diplomatic efforts on behalf of Bangladesh to arrest the cartoon competition organizer.
Otherwise he cautioned that they along with Rasul-loving people will siege the Foreign Ministry and if necessary they will seize the Swedish Embassy in Dhaka.

Are you serious?? All cultures have their good and bad points, including ours **andthere is a lot of stuff we should also be ashamed of, forced marriages, honour killings, all the caste BS etc. Whilst obviously the Arabs have their faults I really can't see how we belong to a **superior culture..
