What has passed of your life will not return to you!

What has passed of your life will not return to you!

One of the pious predecessors wrote to one of his brothers:“Oh my brother, it appears to you as if you are a resident (In this world). However, you are really only persistently travelling, and you are moving rapidly. Death is heading towards you, and this life is passing behind you. What has passed of your life will not return to you (in order to rectify it) on the Day of Resurrection.”

So this short life is passing by us so rapidly. How often we think to ourselves how fast time is passing us by? This life is our ONLY opportunity to gain success in the Hereafter and after this opportunity has passed us then we will NEVER be able to gain back such a chance ever again.

Abû Hâzim said,“The merchandise of the hereafter is in little demand. It is about to be spent with no one obtaining it except a few, not many.”

How much we crave for materialistic things which have many defects and are temporary and they are NOTHING compared to the merchandise of the Hereafter which hace no defects and will last forever! Such merchandise can only be gained through good righteous deeds.

So let us grab as much merchandise of the Hereafter as we can right now as tomorrow is not guaranteed and after death we will NEVER gain this opportunity again.

Therefore it is crucial upon the believer to take advantage of what remains from his life. In explanation of this, it is said:

“the remainder of the believer’s life is priceless.”

Sa’îd ibn Jubayr said, “Each day the believer lives, is a treasure.”

Re: What has passed of your life will not return to you!

Laa raiba feehi!

This life is but a dream. When we die, we wake up in our destined beds which are our graves. May Allah (swt) make us realize this truth before it is too late.

Re: What has passed of your life will not return to you!

Good concept described in OP's post.

But there is also the concept of reinccarnation. So one gets rewarded if one does well in this life. And work towards moksha.

Re: What has passed of your life will not return to you!

What after moksha?

Re: What has passed of your life will not return to you!

My limited understanding is your rebirth cycle stops. You go to Heaven.

On a related note, You may know that the Kauravas reached Heaven before the Pandavas. That is because they died in the battlefield - fulfilling Kshatriya Dharma.

Re: What has passed of your life will not return to you!

oh.....:)

but they were on wrong side right?

hinduism also have concept of hell(narak lok) right?

Re: What has passed of your life will not return to you!

I like the Kauravas more than the Pandavas. But yes, they are considered Otto be on wrong side.

I think Hinduism and Islam both have concept of hell.

Re: What has passed of your life will not return to you!

interesting.......

reasons for that?

@topic i always think that one should take care of his life....with life are attached the chances of good deeds......

just think if any thing would have happened to Hazrat Abu sufian before Fateh Makka.....he would have missed chance of being a sahabi...

so life is related to hope that..with each day we will do more good deeds..and will earn sawab....

Re: What has passed of your life will not return to you!

Re topic I like the concept of taking care of this life.

To answer your question,

Yudhishtira the eldest brother was angry at his mother Kunti to learn Karna (who fought alongside the Kauravas) was his brother. He said had he. Known he would never have fought his brother. So he was willing to fight his cousins the Kauravas but not his brother Karna.

Bhima as a kid used to bully the Kauravas. The Pandavas were favored by the elders such as Bhishma and Drona.

When Radheya (son of Radha who was eife of a charioteer) challenged Arjuna, Bhima mocked him as son of charioteer not worthy of challenging royalty. Duryodhana crowned Radheya king of Angada thus showing he was more open minded. (Radheya was none other than Karna but didn't know it then. Karna was son of Kunti and Surya).

Arjuna asked Drona to ask Eklavya for his right thumb as guru dakshina. Eklayva a low caste person was a better archer. Beyond petty.

Re: What has passed of your life will not return to you!

You desire this world when the hereafter is better for you!

In the Qur'an we find this world & the next world described in the following terms:

"Yes you prefer the life of this world, but the next world is better & more lasting." 87:16-17

"You desire the attractions of this world, but Allah desires the next world for you." 8:67

"And they are happy with the life of this world, but the life of this world is small comfort compared to the next world." 13:26

Then why are we sacrificing the hereafter for this world?
