Re: What has kept Pakistan together for 60 years?
^ Bhaijan, I deliberately did not add 'democratically elected leader' in the list. Udhar tum Idhar hum. :)
The way things are, it looks like some in Pakistan want to create chaos at this most delicate juncture of Pakistan history - it seems no one wants to grow up and learn from history.
Re: What has kept Pakistan together for 60 years?
together for 60 years? u forget 1971
We Pakistanis have such a short term memory. You are talking about 1971. Most of us dont remember why Musharraf took over this country (or how) and that was only few short years ago.
I've seen so many interviews of Nawaz Sharif, lately. He keeps talking about 12th October and how a dictator took over and he was such a victim
Not even a single interviewer asked him that why the heck did you decide to retire a chief of army staff while he was in a flight from columbo to karachi. Why were you not letting that plane land when there were 200-300 other passengers in it and it was running out of fuel.
An now, according to latest poll, Nawaz scored more than any other leader. Even more then ZAB. That is how much of a short term memory we have

Islam..... only Islam can keep Pakistan intact
He asked, what has kept us together, so far. Not what can.
The level of Islam which we have now, I dont think that it was enough to keep us together. We probably had higher level in 1971. and maybe even higher when 100 million of us left 200 million of our muslims brother and sisters in Hindustan and moved to Pakistan.
Maybe what you are saying is the fact that Pakistan is the only country in the world created in the name of Islam thus we have special blessings of Allah. That might be the true

There is more that unites our people than divides them, and we have more things in common than we admit, but most of all by the grace of the alimighty Allah (SWT).

Re: What has kept Pakistan together for 60 years?
I think it's Cricket that has kept Pakistan together (since 71) .
The only reason Soviet Union, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia split up into different countries is because they don't play cricket. !!
So there.
Re: What has kept Pakistan together for 60 years?

Re: What has kept Pakistan together for 60 years?
Pakistanis are very friendly- esp. amongst each other- they drink lassi together and no one can deny common racial stock had a role to play in us being together for so long. That we are living peacefully is a sheer proof- you keep ppl from the same race together and they tend to complement each other in a lot of peaceful ways. Thats the reason we feel closer to Afghans- despite they are poor more than the Indians.
Re: What has kept Pakistan together for 60 years?

I have never met an Afghan who appreciates Indians. All of em I met are appreciative of Pakistanis for the good we are doing to them all these years.
