And I mean REALLY screws up? Let’s say the food turned out to be terrible, or the caterer’s van got into an accident on the way, and there is no more food left.

What are the guests served then? Anyone ever been at a wedding or party where such a thing happened?

I was invited to a wedding where the food was bad and gave all the guests, including the dulha and dulhan, food poisoning. Luckily I didn't attend the wedding but there was talk all over the community about it and the the poor bride told me she and her husband were throwing up all night long that night. I heard her family sued the caterer.
