I’ve never seen the kheer rasm before and i’m not quite sure I understand the reason or signifigance behind it
One rasm i’ve seen quite a lot is, when the bride and groom are first entering the groom’s house, the mother of the groom (or some kind of mother figure, an auntie or something) stands at the door of the house, blocking the couple from entering, and then circles a jug of water over the bride’s head and then tries to drink from it, but then the groom tries to stop her drinking from it. The mother then tries again, and this happens about 3 or 4 times.
I’ve seen this a few times but I actually have no idea what it means. Has anyone else seen this ? what does it mean? Very strange.
so after the couple comes to the house and does all the rasms, do you guys think its weird that the couple goes to the hotel instead of bedroom in the house? How do you manage to go to the hotel without it being awkward?
I don’t think there’s any “significance” to it. It’s just to tease the groom and have some fun while breaking the ice. Plus the bride and groom start out in their new home with something sweet.
After my rukhsati, we went to my in-laws and then from there to the hotel. It wasnt awkward at all. My in laws were actually telling us to leave because it was late.
