^Dont worry, this is what muslims are recomended to do.

1) Sayyiduna Abd Allah ibn Umar (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said: “Trim (your) moustaches and lengthen/grow (your) beards.” (Sahih al-Bukhari & Sahih Muslim)

2) Sayyiduna Abu Hurayra (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said: “Cut off moustaches, leave beards and do otherwise than the fire worshippers.” (Sahih Muslim, no. 260)

3) Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said: “Trim moustaches, lengthen/leave beards and do not imitate the Jews.” (Tahawi, Sharh Ma’ani al-Athar, 4/230)

4) Sayyiduna Abd Allah ibn Umar (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) ordered the trimming/clipping of moustaches and the leaving of the beards.” (Sahih Muslim, no. 1/222)

He just treats so called celebrties like this so their khannas of being celebrity is out ;) , i have seen how he treats these politicians waghaira, and then how he treats a common muslim like me.

I don’t get few things about this whole drama.

1. You are a “big” Islamic scholar and you’re so desperate to meet an actor from Bollywood.

2. You want to give “dawah” and put Islam into a person who’s already performing one of the major pillars of Islam.

3. And you don’t end there, you give a whole lecture dedicated to your meeting with an actor and how the actor was so impressed with your Islami behaviour.

Correct me if I am wrong here but JJ has not once said that actor was impressed with islamic behavior. He mentioned clearly that their discussions were not religious even in 6 hours sitting.

I don’t know much about him and I’m not going to lie, I had stereotyped him as a typical tableeghi who’s in your face and mean kinda guy… but I was surprised to hear JJ saying that he wasn’t sitting there preaching Islam to Amir Khan which I thought was the only thing he would’ve been doing. Perhaps that is why Amir didn’t feel intimidated and that worked somehow as he later on showed some interest in religious acts and the proper etiquette of namaaz. For me, there was a a very important lesson in there. I remember reading a post by Umer about how one person who didn’t ask him to pray changed his whole life when all those who made him pray couldn’t do that and achieved the exact opposite of what they were trying to get him to do.

So please lads don’t undermine what JJ is trying to convey here by saying he’s just showing off etc.

I am not THAT Much of a religious person anyway but Tariq Jameel never talks just religion. He is a worldly kind of person who gets along with every school of thought and is not in-your-face with his attitude which unfortunately most scholars end up doing, even when their knowledge is spot on.

I still think we are making too much out of a simple story.

I think some people would like to see a JJ type ‘reversion’ which I think is highly unlikely and even undesirable from the point of view of the people who do not agree with JJ’s interpretation of Islam.

JJ’s interpretation of Islam I could care less about here. As I said to a friend on fb yesterday, Amir Khan is a nice human being even before his hajj… (as evident from his efforts for a tv show).

He stressed that Aamir Khan spent 6 hours with maulana when he was planning to spend only an hour or so.

I still don’t understand what’s so great about this meeting that they have to come up with a whole lecture on this topic?
