Can someone tell me what happened here? Why is batsman out. Bowler is Md. Akram. Batsman is Marilaht. Scorecard
Re: What happened here?
cant make any sense of it.

I know..my first impression was bad umpiring. But Batsman accepted it so gently that it looked something very obvious.
Re: What happened here?
I had already seen this video a few years back.
Anyway, as it was explained in the video comment there:
Re: What happened here?
Simple. Keeper must be Kamran Akmal. Umpire gave the batsman out because it was that one rare event when Akmal caught the ball.

Re: What happened here?
but why would a batsman agree for such an arrangement
Re: What happened here?
I am quoting YT comment here.
"This dismissal is from Surrey vs Leeds/Bradford UCCE at The Oval, 15th April 2007. The batsman is Tom Merilaht, the Surrey wicket-keeper is Jon Batty, and the bowler is Mohammad Akram. The umpire at the bowler's end is Ian Gould. Some pundits... speculate that in the previous over, the batsman had hit the wicket but the umpire had called over.So it was mutually agreed that the bowler would bowl a ball and then he be given out next delivery (Ref: Unnikrishnan PJ)"
Re: What happened here?
Sportsman spirit, I guess.
Which I totally agree with. Sports does not just teach us how to win, it should teach how to lose as well, how to manage oneself in a tough situation. Besides, the bowler was Mohammad Akram, and he is in contention for the position of bowling coach of Pakistan. If he does get the position, we can always hope someone ask him what happened here.
I wonder what I did above in post #4?!
Hehe, just kidding.
Re: What happened here?
The pundits explanation is really bizzarre since even the officiak scorecard shows merlaht being out caught behind on akrams bowling. If the hit wicket was the case then this is tuly unique dismissal.
Didn't know akram is in line to be bowling coach...is he any good?

Re: What happened here?
8 people are actually in the running for the position.
But unfortunately, even though the requirement from PCB is that the person should have at least five years experience in a similar role with elite cricketers, none of the applicants have. Also Jalal-ud-Din is one of them, and he was the one who took the first hatrick in ODIs. Still, let’s see what comes out of it. None of these inspire confidence in me.
Re: What happened here?
Seems like after the delivery, the batsman said something to the umpire, yo-mamma'ed him or something, and the umpire gave him out in contempt. Just kidding, but seems like it.
