The incident took place dt 27th Feb 2002.
After first reports appeared in media a theory was created that the Hindus traveling in the train were miscreants and were misbehaving with co-passengers and with the vendors at all stations passing by.
This theory of ‘Hooliganism’ justified the action of the ‘mob’ which halted the train…..in the meantime a bogy was under fire and the mob allegedly Muslims were pelting stones at the train from both sides.
Later comes a design theory that the fire took place from inside.

A mob was surrounding the train and was busy in slogan shouting and stoning at the bogies.

The boggy was under complete fire in just 5 – 6 minutes….only petrol can cause for spreading fire so quickly.
A mob was there…all concerning reports had established this fact. What that mob was doing there, when 59 people were caught under fire? (At a very late stage the mentors of ‘Design theory’ understood the fault and have started a new theory…..that no ‘Mob’ was there.)
All ‘Design theories’ are busy in proving that the fire took place from inside….they all ignore the intensity of the inflammable agent……theories are faulty….they have to make the corrections in the ‘Design theory’ that the miscreant Hindu travelers were carrying petrol.

But in response to this behavior, the Hindu militants did not find passive tolerance. Instead, a number of young Muslims got on the train as it was pulling out of the station and pulled the emergency brake half a mile away from Godhra’s station, right in the midst of a Muslim neighborhood. The fight began with rock throwing from both sides. The compartment carrying the militants was found stockpiled with stones.
