Just a quick question…I’ve been researching the holy Quran, and it keeps saying “To whom your right hand posseses”…does this mean when married…the wedding ring (if they wear one) should go on the right hand?
Some of my friends say…these days everyone wears their wedding ring on the left hand…so just curious!
"To whom your right hand posseses"....does this mean when married...the wedding ring (if they wear one) should go on the right hand?
**
"To whom your right hand posseses"** means slave girls with whom a man can engage in halaal sexual relations without a marriage.......it has nothing to do with ring..
Well I dont wear a ring full stop… I dont like them and they pose a danger to others as well as myself. I think Islamically your right hand is meant to be the good one for good things… and the left hand for bad things.
Not sure how poor left handed folks manage and I’m not sure about ambidextrous folk like myself… but I prefer to use my right hand for most things and my left hand is used to absorb all the bad stuff…
Im surprised you remember me…lol…no…this is just a curious question nothing to do with that guy! LOL Just came here…as I know you guys here give me honest answers!!!
I don't think there is a religious preference, infact I don't believe wedding/engagement rings are an Islamic requirement at all.
NomiCa has explained the gist of the verse you quoted.

So which hand?
I don't think there really is any significance regarding wedding rings in Islam. It wouldn't even make a difference if you don't wear one....let alone which hand you wear it on.
Thanks for explaining the "whom his right hand posseses" I thought that meant that he took the right hand of the women of whoever he chooses.
I think most people want their partner to wear a ring surely? I think if I was married I would want my husband to wear one...as it shows he is married!! ....although that does not stop some people these days...which is a shame :-(
^ here's a suggestion, write "back off *****, he's married" with a non-erasable marker on his forehead.
That would do the trick. You might want to look into a guy with a really big forehead though
lol its a sign of commitment.....when I see men at work...or out and about..supermarket etc...u see their ring...its a big give away...they are married....you know if they started chatting to u...to stand back and say "hey ! your married...now GET LOST" .........although......there are some tarts out there who would dismiss the ring and still go there (disgusting behaviour).
I suppose its personal preference whether you decide to keep wearing the ring....some guys do :-)
