Re: What goes around, comes around!

also... you sow what you reap..............

Re: What goes around, comes around!

I have another version of this saying... its like .. if some do some thing bad to others...and if he/she is a friend with you ...and you feel he wont do same to u...you are wrong... he/she will do same thing to you eventually...

Its having a dog who bites others...and you feel secure because its yours... well not so much.. he is going to hurt u too...

Re: What goes around, comes around!

In Islam, it is said that one should avoid hurting others because the dua of the one who is hurt/oppressed is NEVER rejected by Allah. And this warning alone emphasizes the concept of "what goes around comes around."

Narrated Abu Ma'bad, that the Prophet said, **"... and be afraid of the curse of an oppressed person because there is no screen/barrier between his invocation (dua) and Allah." **Sahih Bukhari: Volume 2, Book 24, Number 573.

I know that when I've treated others wrong in the past, I eventually got my payback. I've also seen other people get slapped in the face by karma for their wrong-doings.

I know that it's hard to do...but it's best to apologize/seek forgiveness of the people you've hurt **OR **at least make dua for the one you've wronged.

Re: What goes around, comes around!

we are not Hindus, we don't believe in karma.

Re: What goes around, comes around!

whoops, just read rv's post, I guess Muslims do believe in some form of karma.
personally, I don't believe in karma.

Re: What goes around, comes around!

I also remember a friend of mine once saying that "People who treat others like crap often...are usually not happy people." And there's some truth to this. If you are truly happy and secure with yourself......you don't feel the need to deliberately hurt others. People who are bitter.....like to see others down as well....often. So, it could be that the person who did you wrong is likely not leading a happy life themselves.

I believe in it!

I believe in a slightly different version of that: "Stuff ricochets", a modified version of "Stuff happens". Here is an example:

I had a neighbour across the street who had a nasty little dog with the most piercing, screeching bark you ever heard. I could hear that dog 300 feet away like a stab to my eardrum. The dog would viciously snarl and bark at me whenever I would go to visit her owner, Lois, who was my best friend here. My friend had saved the dog from the pound and wasn't very happy with her behaviour either, but was the kind of person who does not abandon animals just because they are inconvenient. Many a time I would silently wish for the dog to run away from home or get run into or die of old age forthwith or just disappear, period. Anything!

Well, one evening another neighbour stopped by and said, "Have you heard? Lois was killed in a car crash this afternoon." It was such a shock! Even though she was an older woman, she was full of life and fight and kindness and sparkle. The dog, of course was with her, but was not killed. But some other jaanewala took the dog, so I never had to listen to that nasty bark again, and yet, I felt like my wishes cost me my friend. So since then, I never hope for dire consequences to happen to anyone -- even dogs. Stuff ricochets, see?

There are many things we cannot control, make better, avoid, get out of. We watch meaner, selfish people or organizations get their way, walk over meeker or poorer or less well-connected people all the time. So we can only hope that what goes around WILL come around, that the negative things which people of power do will fly around the earth and kick them in the behind.

But if that is true, then also the good things which people do also will have their effect, further on in time or space. So multiply and amplify the good in this world. Contribute to it. It will ricochet, too.

That is so true! Payback does hit you!

Re: What goes around, comes around!

some get their payback in this world n some will get after death but yes Islam gives us hope that whoever hurts others deliberately will suffer eventually.

Re: What goes around, comes around!

^ And i've also read that it's Allah's mercy to get punished in this world.....as it's less severe. And when Allah wants to REALLY punish someone......he'll delay the punishment for the next life.

Re: What goes around, comes around!

is that right coz i thought for some ppl that they act so mean n still live so happily so may b Allah does hav a bigger plan for them.

"When Allaah wills good for His slave, He hastens his punishment in this world, and when He wills bad for His slave, He withholds punishing him for his sins until he comes before him on the Day of Judgment" *Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2396; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani. *
