I go to PAK regular there is only so much you can buy for men. What can you buy men apart from perfume, watches, shoes and shirts???
You're lucky - when we ask the same to our relatives in India we get absurd 'demands' not even ideas......
You know - they have asked my mum for everything from the latest mobiles, latest top of the range digital camera's, designer watches, GOLD jewellery...............
I have only ever been twice - but each time I go/hubby goes, I tend to send for girls; handbags with earrings/costume jewleery/makeup inside. For the lads t-shirts as they are lightweight, perfume or good outdoor style sandals. We have decided recently to go with the rule - if they have young kids clothes etc for the kids and only something small for parents.
Uncle's - Shirts/wallets Aunties - Perfume/lotions/kitchen gadgets
I tend to buy around the year and then have it already when we go/hubby goes/mum goes/we send a parcel!
Anyway - that's my 2p worth - I'm not the best person to comment on this as I tend to rant!!!!!!
Re: what gifts to take to pakistan for ur relatives
Buy thing that you can not get in Pakistan or brand names that people like.
Kids always get chocolates (note ones you can not get in pakistan)
Grandma +auntie - gets vitamins/ sweeteners/ perfume/ lotions etc
female cousins - i ask them what they want like lip glosses/ perfume/ western cloths in fashion in pakistan
Uncles - cardigans/ shirts/ ties/ trousers
then other electrical stuff like if some ones birthday is coming up then buy something like a straightening iron
Also I like Christmas time because they do those make-up and perfume gift boxes which are good if you are going around Christmas time
Re: what gifts to take to pakistan for ur relatives
no matter what you buy them, they will always want more, and will be dissapointed in what you got them....for some reason pakis in pakiland think pakis from everywhere else are loaded and should bring suitcases full of presents for them.
Re: what gifts to take to pakistan for ur relatives
hey
i totally agree with some of you
and mostly with WhateverFloatsUrBoat.
what ever you get is just not enough they want more and more
and on top of that when you do get something and you give them it, it hurts if they do not like it
so i would say its better not to take anything
just make a budget and give each person some money and tell them you can get what you like
my mom does that i think its better you do not have to stress about getting them something and you do not get hurt to if they don't like it.
true true true

Re: what gifts to take to pakistan for ur relatives
But i feel bad if i go empty handed. Neighbours will be asking "oh, what did she get you from America, what did she get you from UK?"....They would be like "oh, nothing!" How bad does that look!!!.... MAN Also, my problem is that I divide time between the US and UK. They expect me to get them stuff from both places!
yeah whateverfb is right. and sometimes even if they do like it they won't tell you and act like they don't care.
or if you have to give gifts, just take them for the kids.
Re: what gifts to take to pakistan for ur relatives
^ yea have had that experience. they're just like acha....then they put it to the side and look at you like 'whats next' they want us to keep rolling out the gifts, as if we have a money tree in our backyard.
the number one thing that annoys me about paklandians is they always consider everyone else to be super rich. like do i really need to remind them how expensive the plane ticket was??!!
Re: what gifts to take to pakistan for ur relatives
The best thing to do is ask everyone what they want, cause usually what happens is they re shy to tell you big stuff so if you keep on asking they'll just name something small. It's a win win situation for everyone, they get what they asked for, you spend less, and when someone asks what they got you they can say this is what I asked for and this is what I got!
Thats what thought. I asked my cousin what he wanted me to bring and he said "playstation 3"...... ouch!
