What force...

In Palestine, mothers send their sons, their flesh and blood, their offspring, to commit suicide bombings. What force in this world can convince a mother to do that?

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Edit: I’m passing no judgement on these mothers. I’m just wondering what their thought process and motivation could be for such a colossal sacrifice.

intense hatred and knowing thier son will be in a better place :stuck_out_tongue:

any more question dont hesitate to ask .. i knwo i am the best

intense hatred can't conquer a mother's love for her child waleed. love conquers hatred, hatred doesn't conquer love.

and knowing her child will be in a better place...? hmmm....i dont know...would you ever be willing to do that if you were in her place...send a loved one to become a suicide bomber?

i doubt it :/

Im just interested to know...what are they thinking? whats the motivation behind this?

:/

Its called desperation. When unfortunately, you have nothing to lose, you take extreme steps such as these, hoping they would make a difference.

Like the people who jumped out of the burning world trade center onto the street below, hoping they would survive the fall.

Interesting analogy Akif bhai, but I think those people who jumped off WTC weren't thinking logically were they? It must have been more of an involuntary reflex action to jump away from the fire. I don't think it was a logically reached decision for them, do you? In the case of these mothers though its a very conscious and thought out decision.

Hi Irem
hows everything going? im back! (with the new machine! )

about this discussion, i think years and years of witnessing incidents of rape, kidnapping, demolition of homes, killings of the young, imprisonment of all leaders and total brutal opprerssion in every possible way leads one towards such extreme measures. when one just doesnt see any way out at all, all theres left in a mortals hands is the greatest gift: life to sacrifice…to just try one last time to snatc the denied rights from the oppressors hands knowing that if they fail again, they would die and the misery would end and perhaps be rewarded as martyrs and would have a feeling of fulfillment for having tried their best…a mother is person who’d rather die herself than have her son killed…but a courageous mother proudly offers her son for the service of others who need them…its all very insane and sitting in our homes we can never realize how it is…we must thank Allah for our motherland, freedom and so on. may Allah have mercy on fellow muslims.

absolutely!
and we who have it never realize its importance and never thank Allah for it. it definitely is one of the greatest gifts.
so may great men in the past died just for freedom. Tipu Sultan, who refused to leave his city which was destined to be captured and refused to surrender and literally fought to the last breath. we all remember William Wallace and his execution shown in braveheart, maybe he didnt shout the famous "FREEEDOOMM" in real life but he did die for freedom. then we havee had the IRA and Tamil suicidals whom the world just seems to have forgotten since 9/11 for certain reasons. Che Guevara was another example...they never end...it sure is one strong motivation!

thanks for replies everyone

Hey guys! very nice topic Irem, I think the same every time i hear about the next suicide bombing in palestine. One thing we do have to realize is that a martyr is very well praised in their culture and even in our religion (i think it is said in Quran that before the fall of first blood drop on the ground, all of their sins are forgiven). Well taking this and the amount of respect a martyr get in palestine, suicide bombing is not seen in the same way as we see it here. Well about the part where a mother send her son to become a suicide bomber, I know this must be her hardest decision that she ever has to take. May Allah improve their current hardship so the next mother should never come to a point to take this decision.

I don't think that it's fair to say that mothers are sending their children to be martyrs. Instead, the young men and women go and do it of their own initiative, but in the aftermatch their decision is supported by their parents.

hmmm...interesting replies guys...thanks :)

I assume all those condoing this barbaric ritual also condone the suicide bombings as they happen inside shia mosques in pakistan. Freedom right!! yeah right!!

Matty I don't think anyone encourages bombings anywhere, especially not in mosques be they shia mosques or sunni mosques. Kabhi jaanay bhi diya karo!
