What type of salan or rice we can make and freeze ?

pretty much any curry. I know few people who freeze rice (biryani etc) too but I am never able to convince myself to do that.

yeah rice can become dangerous so better not to freeze them. But curries with meat and veggies are alright to freeze.

Do you have a specific thing in mind that you want to freeze? you can always do basic curry masala and then freeze it. So as a quick fix you can take out the masala , chuck the meat in and it will be done in 15 minutes !

I freeze rice. And it remains fine. The trick is not to touch it with a spoon or fork till it is heated all the way through in the microwave. And don't defrost rice. It should go directly from freezer to microwave and then table :)

Anything can be frozen...I've never tried to freeze rice so not sure about it.

I have frozen aloo saag, karahi, haleem, nihari, qorma, cake, bhindi, etc.

Only thing I freeze is…Beef kebabs like for burgers/shamis or lean beef bhuna huwa keema for pastas. Even lasgana holds up well in the freezer. I find it takes too long to defrost salans…Uss say acha hai mein khud hi paka loun ussi waqt :hehe:

d6C is not talking about any rice. He is talking about Biryani. I also agree with him. I feel that freezing and then thawing breaks the bond between spices and rice. You can almost taste them separately. Also reheating frozen rice makes it even softer, ruining the “khaRaa Chawal” consistency of the dish, making it mushier.

i don't ever freeze any rice dish...it never reheats properly and also tastes weird

I freeze masala so up I can add chicken, meat, veggies to it later.

Sometimes half cook chicken or meat in masala then freeze so can later add sabzi to it.

I never freeze sabzi, daal or rice as their consistency is really weird after its been frozen n heated again.
