Salaam, can many of you share your experiences that when you had a lengha made from scratch which material/fabric did you have the kadhai done on?

i had my lehnga in crinckle shiffon but the emboidry was on the patch of jamawar here u can have a look at it!
my shirt is also pink jamawar but lehnga n duppata is in crinkle shiffon

whateva material u want for lehnga ..if u want any light material u can have banarsi or silk patch for emboridry on iT.
Make sure the fabric isn't too thin like crinkle or chiffon. the "kaam" usually weighs-down and rips the material =( go for fabrics like jamawar, kataan, brocades.

I agree. Chiffon or the light silk type material rips and disfigures showing signs of wear and tear..much too soon...
I chose thai silk for my outfit...with silk chiffon dupatta...since the work is a little heavy..and I figured it would hold it quite well..

For the top good options are raw silk , brocade or pure silk . the lehenga can be crepe silk, a good firm chiffon , any different kind of net , also something called chanderi silk .

What about pothe? I have no idea how to spell that, but it's a very traditional fabric used for ghararas.
And jamevaar & brocade are always good.

i've heard most lehngas are made of jamavaar. does it give a nice fall? what kapra has the best fall for a lehnga/gharara??

Jamawar really drapes and falls well. These days i've even seen the main lehnga made out of jamawar and a chiffon over it the see-through effect looks really nice.

^ Not for a wedding, but some of the elders in my family wore ghararas on a daily basis, made out of cotton and such.
I would LOVE that.
