Asllamoalaikum every one, can u guide me tht other than 1ST KALMA, ABC, 123, FRUITS, VEGE,ANIMAL NAMES WHAT ELSE ONE CAN TEACH 2 A 2YRS+ OLD TODDLER. Or at this age what else ur 2yrs old toddler knw??
Re: what else???
Colors
shapes
Animal sounds
Courtesy stuff like thank you, sorry, salam etc
Chores around the house like picking up their toys etc
self care like taking off a jacket or socks/shoes,washing their hands etc
I don't see a fixed set of things that should be taught. How old is the kid?I have a 25 month old and anything can be a learning experience. They see and hear and observe and learn more than you can realize.
On our recent trip to a lake, she was mesmerized by boats and ducks. And now she thinks wherever there is a water body, there will be a boat and a duck.
I keep on talking while I am doing grocery. She finds it fascinating.
Pick up a book, any kid's book and there can be so many things you can whip out of it and make it fun.
Co relating stuff (I think there is a term for this, not sure).Like something 'round' and 'orange' in color is an 'orange.Or I have started to notice that if she has one crayon and she wants another one she asks for it 'two crayon',or if she has 2 she says 'three crayon' and so on...
Re: what else???
i agree wth chips there is no certain criteria, make sure u talk to the baby a lot whatever doing, my baby is 16 months n like wheni giver her bottle i l tell her 'MILK' same wth food, where ever v go just talk to the baby n let him know wht is happening, read story books to him wth lots of pictures n tell him everything.
what else???
Yes just talk to them. I taught the twinkies color by cutting put different color paper and i would stuff them inside a small nido box with a hole in the lid so they can pull colors out. So they loved pulling the colors out and i would say yayee red... Woohoo pink .. U get it and soon they would point to color themselves and say the name. U can do that with numbers or letter but keep it to a 5 to 6 minimum :)
Re: what else???
im not asking abt any fixed cirteria, i was like... I was running out of the ideas so just wanted 2 ask frm u guys tht what else i can teach him. Well thanx every 1. Chips my son is also 25 months old MashAllah. What religious thing u have taught 2 ur daughter? Share some info.
Re: what else???
I concentrated on just the names of things etc with my first born and he couldn't speak in full sentences till he was 4. It's better to talk to babies and toddlers in short sentences more often than just making them memorize names....also read small stories and nursery rhymes everyday. Once they become good at speaking/talking, they become even better at reading and memorizing
I recommend Mother Goose for nursery rhymes and for Islamic stuff....small surahs like Fatiha and Ikhlas, make your kid say after you everyday eventually he'll pick it up.

I feel at her age she is more likely to learn from what she sees. She recites the first kalma after me.It is not very accurate but it is a bedtime ritual. She knows it is a form of prayer, then she 'phoonks' us just like I do after I pray.
She knows namaz time and that it is to be offered on a pray mat.She has her own kiddie sized one and when she is told 'chalo namaz parhian'.she brings it and stands on it for a bit and then does sajda, although she tries to peek at me while in sajda to see if I am looking at her.I sometimes make her repeat the names of the namaz after me.Obviously she does not know when is which namaz but she repeats the names after me.
Then there is the usual "Bismillah parho' before she starts a meal. She hears me say that out loud, and once again she does not know it herself.Or saying 'Allah ka shukar' after a meal etc etc.
She sees me doing these things and I am hoping she learns them and they become a habit. It is just the beginning....!
:)
Re: what else???
This might sound a bit stupid.. but my SIL did this.. she taught her daughter not to be without clothes or underwear in front of anyone from a very young age, and not to talk to strangers.
