This dua (narration) is classified as weak (Da’if). I, also came to know recently when someone asked me about it.

You can recite any Dua before iftar, there is no designated Dua for that time. Also, there is no weak or mustanad Dua, a Dua is a Dua where you ask something good from Allah.

There are many duas mentioned in Holy Qur’an and also in Hadith which can be read at different circumstances. By adding something or abstracting in a dua and/or attributing it to Prophets labeled as weak, rejected or fabricated. Otherwise are called mustanad.

I was only implying to the Dua part, that there are no designate or particular Dua for that moment. Yes, you are correct that a Dua cannot be attributed to a Hadith if it cannot be validated via authentic source.
