is it alot of water, is it constant, whats it like. im so scared of just wetting myself and not knowing if waters have broken or its something else, lol, .
Re: what does waters breaking feel like?
you will KNOW your water has broken.. its not just gonna be like wetting ureself with a loose bladder... its gonna be a full gush of water... how much you leak is dependant on your body and case.. water breaking feels like an elastic band snapping... and then the water work starts... its a gush of water ... when mine broke, i thought it was pee but i couldnt stop myself from "peeing" and then i realized its my water thats broken.
i leaked for an hour straight.. no not leaked.. GUSHED for an hour... water just flowed everywhere... i sat on a plastic table cloth i had gotten just for this and put a bedsheet on top... i had also bought diaper like pads that women wear post delivery which were a lifesaver! after that initial hour, i was still leaking for a good part of my entire labour... lets just say my huge huge belly was all water weight.
Re: what does waters breaking feel like?
you will definitely know when and if it will happen.
Mine broke while I was sitting and having lunch. It was a huge gush of water and I had to grab the paper towel roll. After the first 5-10 mins,it kinda stopped gushing.I used a pad and when I reached the hospital after about half an hour ,it had kinda reduced to just a slight discharge.

Are they like adult diapers?
Also, did any of you experience any pain/ signs before your water broke? or the pains follow the water breaking?
Re: what does waters breaking feel like?
as khawa said, u will definately know when ur waters have broken... mine didnt break till a very long time after the contractions had started and luckly i was at the hospital when it did. I didnt feel like an elastic band had snapped.. more like a warm fuzzy feelign erupting down below and gushign everywhere. I still remember going "oh, so this is water breaking... silly me had been calling the hospital for absolutely no reaosn before..." (i was high on gas when it happened.. hence my reaction was so "watever" like)
Re: what does waters breaking feel like?
mine was broke in my sleep, seriousely i felt baby's kick in my tummy.well no pains just water gusshing out.it is a warm fuzzy feeling,as khawateen said you can use pads for that:)and after that simply go to hospital.a
Re: what does waters breaking feel like?
For me, water never broke by itself but the contractions got pretty close, so the nurse broke it at the hospital. I just felt it trickle, no gushing or anything.
Re: what does waters breaking feel like?
you will know for sure... becuase theres alot of waters.. i kinda heard a "grrr" sound in my tummy and then water broke... first i used to think its gonna hurt when the water breaks... but when the time came there was no pain at all untill the contractions started
Re: what does waters breaking feel like?
i heard a sound of pop and the water just came out with a gush. oh the real contractions statred after that.
Re: what does waters breaking feel like?
ya my contractions started after the water broke... nto all women get it though, some have to have their water bags pierced at the hospital if the contractions are real strong and labour is starting.
i dont know what adult diapers are like.. but i would guess they probably are the same... not all girls need it though.. some can do with a regular feminine pad... but like i said, i gushed for an hour so i needed the diapers!
Re: what does waters breaking feel like?
at how many weeks does it usually break?
Re: what does waters breaking feel like?

it depends but usually after the 38th week. with the second baby my water didn't break and the mid wife had to pierce it at the time of birth as khawateen mentioned.
Re: what does waters breaking feel like?
Jizak Allah Khair you all :)
Re: what does waters breaking feel like?
mine broke at the beginning of my 42nd week. just in time for my absolute final midwife's appt. phew.
Re: what does waters breaking feel like?
My water didn't break, I just started feeling contractions and they were painful, husband took me to the hospital, they admitted me and had to break the water later themselves after giving me an epidural, so I have no idea how it feels.
Re: what does waters breaking feel like?
ooh dear god......i still have 3½ weeks to go...so damn scared
Re: what does waters breaking feel like?
My water bag was broken and I was already told that in such case I would have to rush to the hospital or make a call to my doc. I didn't feel any pain, no contractions etc. My 38 weeks were successfully passed but during the 39th week it all happened. My baby girl was born before the actual due date.
Re: what does waters breaking feel like?
does the water needs to break..... i am just asking out of curiosity
Re: what does waters breaking feel like?
ya :D the baby is in there.. it comes out, the water comes out too. tadaa
Re: what does waters breaking feel like?
^ Not always though, my friend recently gave birth and her baby was born in the sac and her waters had never broken. I can't even imagine what that would look like....
