What does walking with a chin up mean to you?

I hold my head high nowadays when I go outside and my chin up to give other people the message that I don’t care about lies against me and what they do. Holding my chin up high means to me that I’m proud but not arrogant at who I am and what I am and the lies that people tell against me, can’t change the fact that I’m innocent and happy.

Holding your chin up high means different things to different people. So how do you go outside? You hide yourself, don’t care, do you try to get attention of other people, you’re arrogant or are you proud, or nothing at all and too occupied with your own thoughts?

Perhaps this is also a culture thread.

Re: What does walking with a chin up mean to you?

I keep head low in most places as i'm very tall and unfortunately i bump my head often when entering through doors. :(

That said i understand your reasons for chin up, i personally keep head low also becuase i am still a young man and a well respected one, but i am not worthy of looking my elders in the face or intimidating others. That is why i also wear loose clothing and walk in a stooped fashion giving the impression that i am a weaker man.

I also tend to act the weaker and more humble person when about town, but this is just to hide the fact that in reality i could break someone pretty badly, in an unfriendly neighbourhood though i walk more brazenly and when i know theres trouble up ahead and i am not among generall elderly folk and sisters i take of my shirt and basically show off my muscled body to intimidate the opposition, but i keep low when among normall places.

I save my nasty side for the people who deserve it or for competitions and training bouts.

It's better to walk with chin up, than with your nose in the air.

I don't see anything wrong with having your nose in the air. :)

As long as your attitude is oké.

Re: What does walking with a chin up mean to you?

Walking with a chin up, very much means... walking with a chin which is up.
Mention not. U r welcome.

Re: What does walking with a chin up mean to you?

I believe that we all have our insecurities....but we should try not to allow them to control our lives and harm our relationships with others.

When I go out.......I like to be relaxed and comfortable in my own skin. And in my opinion, that is one aspect of confidence. I think that "holding your chin up" means having a confident and most importantly POSITIVE attitude. It's about the ability to persist and continue moving on with a smile even when life has tossed you a few lemons.

lol

strangely enough my father said to me when i was jumping continents after marriage, chin up love and all be fine. so chin up it is.

Re: What does walking with a chin up mean to you?

Chin up is a good way to be. Shows your self-confidence as well as "I dont care what you think" attitude. I try to be chin up. Though lot of people might mistake me for a snob, but like notorious, I make an effort to walk with my head held high since I too am proud of who I am and especially of the fact that I did not conform to the norms and stayed miserable.

Re: What does walking with a chin up mean to you?

it means one of the following

i need to get my butt to a gym pronto
buy better quality stuff
read labels before washing
find a better drycleaner
loosen the knot

because essentially it is pointing to the fact that my shirt collar is way too tight..

Re: What does walking with a chin up mean to you?

I just try to walk like I have some purpose in life lol

lol

Re: What does walking with a chin up mean to you?

No matter how one walks it is better to walk humbly with no sign of "Gharoor". Whenever we climb a road moving up, we all have to bend our shoulders. Have you noticed that it is impossible to climb a hill, or a road moving high, with one's chin up ?

Btw, I have noticed that all the animals walk with their head bowed a little. But if a person is walking with his chin up not as a sign of arrogance but as a sign of self confidence, then there seems to be nothing wrong in it, IMHO.

Re: What does walking with a chin up mean to you?

coolio i like the purpose in life bit

I feel bad for you if you are miserable, but I am not miserable at all. :)

Since 2004 my life was never better! It's better to be happy in your own home where you spend most of your time anyway, instead of people thinking you are happy, while home life is in fact awful. If conforming to the norm means staying in a relationship where your husband does awful things like beating on different parts of your body, then I'm never going to conform to the norm. I left my husband some years ago and now I'm happy in my own home, sure, I know everyone else hates me, but my life is with my children in my own home. Life since 2004 has been the happiest time in me entire life. :)

Everyone has had one or two problems, that doesn't mean that you're unhappy. Kids threw eggs and some days ago some little stones at my home, but that's not enough to make me depressed and unhappy. Certainly not. I still am very happy. :)

I hope you will become happy too and I really hope you will stop being miserable. :)

Re: What does walking with a chin up mean to you?

^^ Hi. I think you may have misunderstood slightly.

I meant that in some cases conforming to society's norms so that people dont "stare and talk about you" may actually put someone in a more miserable situation. (ie if I had stayed in my situation and not had the guts to rock the boat, I would have been unhappy) So its better to be out of that and despite what people say and presume (to know better), at least you know you are comfortable in your own world. This is a strong and bold move that many are afraid to make.

I am glad that you are strong and I pray you will always have the strength and patience and always be happy :)

I truly can understand your situation.

Take good care of you :)

I get it. :)

Thank you. :)
