What does this phrase means?

Dil huwa Ayyubi aankhen yaqoobiyan.

Read it in Zahida Hina’s short stories recently.

Re: What does this phrase means?

Is it related to sabr e Ayyub and girya e yaqoob? Anyone knows the complete shair?

yeh, please! good idea...and, please lemme know what this in fact means. this will add to our understanding of Urdu Zabaan o bayaan :), iA.

Re: What does this phrase means?

We are also in learning process Ninja :emmy:

Her writings are not confused. She had done a wonderful job in promoting the message of harmony through her writings.

BTW.. Dil huwa Ayyubi Aankhen Yaqoobiyan is not a new concept for those who know this shair:

Hum ne tere hijr me kia kia na mehboob kiya
Sabr e Ayub kiya, girya e Yaqoob kiya.

The confusion is whether this Dil huwa Ayyubi.. is a part of any shair or just a Zarb al Misl (Maxim).

Re: What does this phrase means?

Ninja, its not a difficult task.. just keep on reading. I started reading Urdu in class 4.. Urdu was not our subject till class 6. I first start reading monthly magazines like Hamdard Naunehaal, Aankh Micholi, Taleem O Tarboyat.. Then in class 7, I read Naseem Hijazi's novels Shaheen / Aakhri Chattan. A Hameed's Anber, Naag, Maria series was also my favorite then, because the concept was related to history.

I remember I read Manto's Thanda Gosht in Class 10.. To be honest, I didn't get the original message until I read it gain after two three years. :D
