Re: What does this mean?

In Malwi dialect of Punjabi kugi is "rolled roti with sabzi in it":)

this might be from other dialect of punjabi:)

Re: What does this mean?

mujhe Punjabi nahiiN aatii magar mere Khayaal se iskaa matlab huaa *"DeeNgeN maarnaa"**** :) am i right?***

Re: What does this mean?

my brother said he ate kuki or kugi at sindhi family that was a stuffed paratha....and muqawwee bhai never heard that word in sindhi

Re: What does this mean?

one meaning is to write your ‘‘signature’’ or initials…

you know…like..

*yar oh cheque teh kuggi te maar…
*
PS: Kuggi means Dove/Faakhta in punjabi…and this might be that initials/signatures are a scribbling , so may be it looked like a scribbling of a dove…hence its called kuggi maaro (i have no basis whatsover…just something i came up while writing this post :hehe: )

Re: What does this mean?

Yes ae kitti ae na Punjabiyan wali gal

Yes I also heard that one from our peon telling his friend like ‘Boss naloon voucher uthe kuggi marva liya’.

Every monday morning, I hear this one from our sub-ordinate staff (Urdu speaking): Ye voucher pe chirya bitha den (means sign kar den). I used to think my sign is like a snake not chirya :cobra:

Re: What does this mean?

khalil khan fakhta = > khalil khan kuggi = > KKK

Re: What does this mean?

One more thing now I understand this song from Pinjar ‘Maar udaari ae kuggiye maar udaar’ written by Amarta Pritam -famous Punjabi writer. Yes Kuggi means Dove. Nomi, I’m impressed :k:

Re: What does this mean?

**and, so is in Hindi...ek gaane meN yeh lafz aayaa thaa:

*chal uR jaa re panchhii k yeh des huaa be_gaana* :)**

Re: What does this mean?

nothing to be impressed about brother......its my language....i know ..

bird is pakheruu.........but its more of a literary/archaic word nowadays.....with proliferation of urdu at all levels......mostly its called a parinda...(i never used word pakheru.....used to call it parinda..and heard the same...) grandpa used to use some of these words...........but nowadays, its almost non-existent in current spoken punjabi.

Re: What does this mean?

What about Pakhi which is used in Sindhi for bird and I think in Punabi they say Pakhi Pakheru.

Re: What does this mean?

same........dada g used to say pakhi......no one afterwards...
