Re: WHat Does This Mean?

A sinner has a future, it means he has a chacne of redeeming himself, or possibly getting worse.

A saint, has only good things in his past.. also coz saints become saints when they die, hence only past, no future :D

Re: WHat Does This Mean?

no sara actually saint has a past means tey might have a bad past...

Just like a sinner may start doing good and become a saint.... SO a saint could be a sinner once too :)

Re: WHat Does This Mean?

so u mean a sinner becomes a saint and a saint could have been a sinner? :D

Re: WHat Does This Mean?

Re: WHat Does This Mean?

“The only difference between the saint and the sinner is that every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future.” - Oscar Wilde

This means, Sinners who repent have a future as Saints and Saints just didnt born as a Saint, they were ordinary men (Sinners) who worked hard to be good and became Saints. The background come’s from these verses of Luke, when according to it, Jesus asked Levi to “Follow him” and he did and later became a saint. (Levi was a tax collector and people hated him as a bad man).

Christian speakers talk about the beauty of just two words from Jesus “Follow me” which did the magic for the man (Levi). And the directive by which Jesus told Levi to follow. Only Peter (Mattew 4:19) and Philip (John 1:43) were given this directive.

Luke 5:27, Matthew 9:9, Mark 2:14 all three mention just these two words were used.

Luke 5:27-32

  1. After this he went out and saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at the customs post. He said to him, “Follow me.”
  2. And leaving everything behind, he got up and followed him.
  3. Then Levi gave a great banquet for him in his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were at table with them.
  4. The Pharisees and their scribes complained to his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”
  5. Jesus said to them in reply, "Those who are healthy do not need a physician, but the sick do.
  6. I have not come to call the righteous to repentance but sinners."
